Yesterday, I was surfing a forum when I saw someone said she likes the fan fiction I write. The girl is ten years younger than I and it made me realize how old I am!

I wasn’t active in any fandom until 2001 but I have been writing fan fiction since 1999. During that time, there were but a few of us in our fandom (Slam Dunk), that we all knew one another. In fact, one of the “fan fiction guides” I had written in 2001 had been archived in a big anime forum because it was part of the early fan fiction boom.

Now, why am I telling you all these? I’m not claiming to be the most famous or the best fan fic writer around. However, I’ve been in this long enough that I could start giving out advice to the younger generation of fan fic (and in our case here in DOPAMINE, dream novel) writers. And besides, I think I promised this to one of our readers long ago, I just forgot to follow through.

Hence, for any of you who want to start writing fan fiction (or dream novels), you are very welcome to ask me anything — I’ll try to answer them all. Simply post your questions in this thread OR if you want to remain anonymous, you can email me at mitsuiselphie[@]gmail.com — I promise I won’t divulge your identity if you don’t want me to.

You can consult me on anything — from fan fiction basics right down to questions about grammar and punctuation (though I don’t claim to be a pundit). I will be addressing any question sent one by one for our regular discussions.

That’s it, I will be waiting for your questions. :)

Wow, that’s very kind of you… I used to write fanfics earlier on FF.net (and got a review a few days ago about one I wrote back in ‘03 that I discontinued).

I’m wondering how one can write expressively and excitingly (sp?), in order to make the reader moved and want to continued to read? Sometimes I feel that I have problems with that, that the text doesn’t move the story along so much…

Great question, Sia. Frankly, I thought I was only going to get simple newbie questions. However, your query will greatly benefit writers of varying levels so I’ll address it this weekend. :D

The Fan Fic Clinic will be open only for a limited time, guys. So post your questions before I feel like I’ve gotten enough to answer for quite some time.
