She watched in awe as he ‘changed over’ into another amazing tennis player. He saw her watching, catching her eyes, he winked her way causing her to blush. She was a fourteen-year-old girl who had her first crush. He was a fourteen-year-old boy who could have any girl he wanted. After he won his match he made his way towards her. “Did you like the game?” She nodded and he smirked. The wind blew and he swore he smelt strawberries. “Names Wakato Hiroshi. What’s yours?”

She bit her lip before smiling. “ .” Wakato gulped. Why did he feel nervous just because she smiled at him?

“It’s a pleasu-” He was cut off when a group of girls came running up to him, pushing his new friend out of the way.

“Wakato-kun!”
“Wakato-senpai!”
“Congratulations.”
He turned on his charm and smiled towards the girls that now surrounded him. Soon forgetting about the girl he was just talking to.

I Remember

Wakato Hiroshi had his own fan club in junior high. Most of which followed him throughout high school. Some even stayed into his college years. He was loved by every girl he met and he enjoyed the attention tremendously but he was always lonely. Always looking for that one special person.

was never good at sports and she always had to work hard to get her semi good grades. She wasn’t disliked but she was happy with her few close friends. She was no amazing beauty nor was she unpleasant to look upon. She had only attended Jyousei Shounan Gakuen Chuu for her third year. Not long after her momentary encounter with the copy genius, ’s family had moved again and she had never seen her first crush again.

She took a deep breath and walked into her first class of college. Finding an empty seat, she took it and prepared for the lecture to start, going off into her own thoughts while she waited for the professor to arrive. She had broken up with her short-term boyfriend just before they left for college. Truthfully, she wasn’t really broken up about it. Of course it had ended badly, he cheated on her with the school slut and he had the nerve to be mad at her for leaving him.

‘What a fool…’ She thought tapping her nails lightly on the small desk. She had also lost her so-called best friend, who she now knew was the school slut, which probably hurt her more. She was thankful she went away to school. It was a chance for her to start anew. She puffed her cheeks and slowly let the air leak out of her lips. She was so lost in her thoughts and boredom she didn’t notice the body that sat next to her. The professor came in and didn’t even wait for silence as he started talking. took the hint and turned her attention to the man, taking down anything she dubbed important. After the man finished his lecture and left the room saved her notes on her laptop. Taking a deep breath she came out of her ‘work’ mode and relaxed in her chair. She heard someone let out a low whistle next to her.

“Damn, you type fast…” turned her attention to the boy next to her, eyes widened at seeing the orange haired boy.

‘Wakato Hiroshi…’ She thought as the boy smirked at her.

“Like what you see?” Wakato smirked, looking the girl over. Shaking herself out of her thoughts she raised an eyebrow realizing that the boy had brought nothing but himself at class today.

“I do hope my fingers weren’t the only thing you paid attention to during class.” She noted that his smirk grew and she knew where this was going. “No, I will not allow you to copy my notes.” She stood up walking out of the isle and down the steps but he quickly followed.

“Who said that’s what I was going to ask?” She shook her head and walked out the door, him still in tow.

“It’s just a guess. You seem like one of those boys that always had some sort of fan club.” She looked back nodding as she saw the slight shock look on his face. “Never had to take your own notes have you? Always charmed them out of some poor girl who just wanted your attention. Good luck with that.” She laughed lightly as she stepped out of the college building leaving the slightly stunned boy behind. After his initial confusion Wakato smirked; this was a challenge even he couldn’t turn down.

A month after that encounter had passed and had easily avoided the boy that seemed to show up near her every class. She only had that one class with him, one day a week. Even though she successfully avoided him didn’t mean she didn’t see him, everyday… with another girl who was charmed by his adorable smirk.

She shook her head and continued to get ready, her roommate and now rather good friend was dragging her to a party. had been dying to meet with some guy for weeks, after finally finding out he’d be attending a party she had been invited too, how could she refuse. But what girl in her right mind would want to go alone? Therefore had been hoodwinked into the whole ordeal.

walked in and smiled. “Absolutely gorgeous darling!” laughed and looked over herself in the mirror. Her jeans and tank top were anything from looking gorgeous but she’d take the compliment anyway.

“Dressed to impress aren’t you ?” said taking in her friend’s appearance. glowed and spun, her knee length black skirt fanning out as she did.

“As always.” She winked, grabbed ’s hand and pulled her out of the dorm room. She locked the door before turning, taking ’s arm. “Shall we go bat our beautiful eyelashes?”

laughed and shook her head. ‘How am I going to survive this girl?’ She thought as they made their way to the party.

Wakato had his arm around some random girl’s shoulder as he pretended to listen to everything she said. To be honest he couldn’t tell you a thing she had been talking about. His mind was on something else…or someone else really. His new challenge has become rather bothersome. It seemed not only did this girl turn him down but she seemed to be avoiding him as well. He had yet to even find out the girls name. When he had told his roommate about the girl, before his roommate decided to have this rather boring party, the boy had asked if this girl was a goddess. Being confused Wakato asked him why he would think such a thing.

“Well Wakato, anyone that can get your attention for more then a night has to be a goddess of love or something of the sort”, were his exact words. Wakato wondered if he should be insulted by what his friend had said. His thoughts were interrupted when his ‘goddess’, as he now called her, walked through the door of the very party he was now attending. Without wasting a minute he quickly discarded of the girl he was preying on and set his sights on bigger prey.

giggled and tugged on her friends arm. “That’s him.” She pointed to a rather decent looking boy who was standing close to the kitchen and grinned.

“Oh, why don’t you go get us something to drink…” smiled back and practically skipped towards the boy. sighed. ‘Now what am I suppose to do.’

“Well, you are quite the girl to get a hold of…” groaned aloud and turned, only to regret it. How was it possible that he could be even sexier? She used all of her willpower not to gulp and visible look him up and down.

“And you are quite the boy to get rid of…” The boy pretended to look hurt, holding his hand over his heart smirking lightly.

“You wound me.” She let out a light chuckle and rolled her eyes. “May I know the name of the one that stole my heart only to stab it repeatedly?” crossed her arms again.

“That was a horrible line.” His smirk grew as he moved closer to her, swearing he smelt strawberries.

“That wasn’t an answer to the question I asked.”

thought for a moment, weighing her options. ‘I could tell him my name and he will probably forget it in a matter of moments or…’ A playful smirk graced her face causing his eyebrow to rise. “I’ve already told you my name, Wakato Hiroshi.”

He looked at her confused. “You’ve asked someone who I was?” He seemed to beam with excitement. ‘So she is interested. What girl would ask about someone if they weren’t right?’

laughed again this time it had amusement dripping from it. Shaking her head she looked him right in the eyes. “Of course not. You gave it to me yourself.” He seemed even more confused then before so she continued. “We’ve met before, Wakato-kun.” The boy’s expression turned to something she thought was caught between ‘oh shit’ and ‘where’s the closest exit’.

“So we’ve dated?” He asked in a hushed tone.

rolled her eyes again; she swore her eyes would pop out if she spent any more time with this boy. “No. Have you dated every girl you’ve ever told your name too?” Before he could answer she stopped him, already knowing it was probably true. “It was a brief meeting but if you wish to know my name try thinking a little harder.” She turned to leave but not before grinning back at him. “You look better without that hat…”

A very familiar ring tone rang through the air groaned and rolled over in her sleep. ‘This better be important.’ She reached out grabbing the phone. Opening it and placing it on her ear she didn’t even bother seeing who called. “What…”

She heard a giggle. “ -chan you were supposed to make sure I got home safe tonight.” opened her eyes and looked at the clock.

“It’s 4 AM , you’re a big girl you can get home on your own.” sat up in her bed. She knew where this way going.

“Mou, -chan come get me! I will treat you too something on the way home.”

slipped on her flip-flops and pulled her hair into a messy ponytail. “Are you at the same house?” She put a zip up sweater over her tank top and retied her pajama pants.

“Yep.”

She walked out of the doom locking it and making her way towards the house she left hours ago. “I’ll be there in a few minutes.”

As she hung up the phone she heard cheer loudly. “Yay! -chan’s coming!” Shaking her head she wondered why she had such a friend.

Knocking on the door cursed at the cold air blowing around her. The door opened and she found herself looking at a tall attractive boy. “You must be -chan?” She tilted her head to the side wondering how this boy knew her name. He smiled. “ -san has been talking about you nonstop for the past hour.” He moved aside allowing her to enter. “ -chan~” Before she was even fully in the house came out of nowhere and jumped on her. Making the two girls fall onto the boy who had opened the door.

“Itai…” winced and then realized someone under her. “ ! Get up! We’re going to kill the poor boy!” pushed the girl off her and quickly stood.

giggled madly from the floor. “Kajimoto-kun is strong , we can’t kill him.” shook her head and helped the boy to his feet apologizing for herself and her friend.

She knelt down in front of . “How much have you had to drink?” blew a raspberry at her and just shook her head.

“I told her she could spend the night here but she insisted that ‘ -chan will save her from this overload of testosterone’.” Kajimoto laughed out loud and looked at pouting on the floor. Rubbing her forehead sighed.

“It’s true! -chan is a heroine! She’s my hero…” The drunken girl mumbled from the floor.

Yawning shook her head. “ , it’s almost 5AM now. I have to be up in an hour to pick up Syuu-kun at the station. Why couldn’t you have just slept here?” looked down frowning.

“I was about to make coffee. Would you like a cup?” looked up at the boy smiling.

“I would love you forever if you would.” He nodded, smiling, and walked into the kitchen.

“He had a girlfriend…” looked at her friend as she drew circles on the floor with her finger. “I worked for a whole two hours! He flirted back and everything! But she showed up and he introduced her as his girlfriend. This sucks…”

patted her friend’s head. “His loss. Next time we will do more research, okay?” nodded and helped her to her feet, helping her to the kitchen where the lovely coffee awaited them. Before reaching her heaven (the kitchen), another door opened and she turned her attention to the two newcomers. Rolling her eyes again she sighed. “You never change, do you?”

Wakato and his ‘companion’ looked up. shook her head, his ‘companion’ was a girl and she looked like she had one too many. “Why are you back?” He snapped at her.

smirked. “Oh, I don’t know. I just thought I’d pick up a girl or two and drag them around.” She motioned to who was giggling madly in her arms. The kitchen door opened, nearly smacking in the head, and Kajimoto took the other side of .

“I’ll help you two to the kitchen…” He looked up noticing Wakato. “Oh, you’re still up?” He looked over at the girl by his side. “Wakato, you know better. Go to your room, sleep it off and call her if you actually remember.” laughed, catching Kajimoto’s attention. “Do I know you from somewhere?”

looked over the boy again and her eyes widened. She knew this boy, he went to junior high with her and with… she turned her eyes to Wakato and smirked. “Maybe, Kajimoto-san, but probably only by seeing me a few times. I believe you attended Jyousei Shounan, correct?” He nodded.

giggled again in their arms. “Coffee… smells good.”

shook her head. “How about we sit her down?” Kajimoto nodded again and the three disappeared into the kitchen.

After getting in a chair and being handed that wonderful cup of life, smiled and sipped on her coffee, glancing over to see Kajimoto staring at her.

“Sorry if this sounds rude. I vaguely remember your face but I can’t remember your full name. Have we not met?”

She shook her head placing her cup down. “I only attended that school for a short time, not even my full third year.” He nodded his head in understanding. “And as you can see I don’t exactly stand out from the crowd. So there was no rudeness in your question.”

As the boy swallowed his hot liquid he shook his head. “I’d have to disagree. You are very attractive -san.” She laughed, waving it off trying to cover the slight blush that graced her cheeks.

Wakato stared at the kitchen door. ‘She went to junior high with me? That makes sense now I wore that damn white hat all through junior high.’ He was brought out of his thoughts when he felt something wet against his neck. Realizing the girl he had picked up that night was licking him he quickly pushed her away, then disposed of her on the couch, he wasn’t in the mood anymore.

“You never change, do you?” The girls’ words echoed in his mind. That statement also made sense if she knew him from then because he wasn’t exactly a good boy then either. He stood up fixing his shirt and his hair making his way to the kitchen.

Opening the door slowly he caught the end of their conversation. “You are very attractive -san.” Suddenly an image came to his mind. A cute girl at one of his games, she wasn’t beautiful but she had caught his eye, standing off to the side nowhere near his cheering fan girls. The look in her eye as he watched him was of awe and amazement. He was lucky she had on his school uniform so he had looked for that girl the next week at school but she was nowhere to be found. Then he remembered he had talked to that girl, only for a moment.

“Did you like the game?” She nodded and he smirked. The wind blew and he swore he smelt strawberries. “Names Wakato Hiroshi. What’s yours?”

She bit her lip before smiling. “ .”

“Strawberries…” He said aloud as he leaned on the wall beside the door. No wonder she had caught his eye when he walked into class that morning and why he had been drawn to her ever since. He smiled thinking of how cute she looked just now, drunken friend draped over her arm and everything.

He was brought out of his musing when the kitchen door opened and he heard her voice. “Are you sure it’s okay, Kajimoto-san?”

“Yes, of course! It would be bothersome if you had to carry her all the way home and she looks deep in sleep. I will carry her to the couch in my room.” laughed and opened the door further. “Are you sure you should walk home on your own? It’s may be morning, but its still late.” Before she could answer the kitchen door opened all the way and Wakato stood there smirking.

“I’ll walk her home, Kaji.” Without hearing an answer he took her arm and pulled her out the front door.

“You are the kind of person I’m worried she will run into.” Kajimoto said wryly as he lifted up and carried her out of the kitchen.

glared at the boy to her left as he smirked happily. “I don’t need you to walk me home.” He looked at her and her glare softened at the look in his eyes.

“I know but I would like to make sure you get home safe.” She looked at him suspiciously but before she could argue further he stopped in front of the park they were passing by. She turned back and rolled her eyes. “I remembered…” He looked down stuffing his hands in his pockets.

“Congratulations?” said, confused at what the boy was getting at.

…” She inhaled sharply as he took a step closer to her.

“Who... who told you my name…?” He looked up at her eyes meeting she saw something she thought she’d never see in the playboys’ eyes, tenderness and care, maybe even love.

“I told you I remembered.”

She shook her head hugging herself. “That’s a lie. There’s no way you’d remember me.” She turned to walk away but he grabbed her arm pulling her back.

“I shouldn’t have let them push you away like that. I looked for you at school the next week, but you weren’t there. I thought…” He stopped as she turned to him, eyes wide. “I thought you were a dream… no one seemed to know who you were.” He chuckled to himself at how silly he sounded. Subconsciously he knew that he never stopped looking for her. He pulled her closer putting his finger under her chin he lifted it and moved their faces closer.

She could feel his breath on her lips. “You think because you remembered my name, I’m going to let you kiss me.” Trying to sound unaffected by their closeness, her voice failed her coming out in a hushed whisper.

“Of course not…” He smirked. “Or else everything I’ve thought of for these past years to say to you would be pointless…” He turned her head slightly, brushing his lips against her cheek and placing them beside her ear. “What have you done to me? I’ve been obsessed with a girl, whose name was all I knew about her. What do I do? I finally found her again but she seems to want nothing to do with me.” She felt his husky chuckle as he felt her tremble at his words. “I couldn’t take my eyes off you and I’ve been looking for you since that day, , to make you mine. No girl seemed to help me forget you even though I only met you for that moment…” He nuzzled his face in her neck, taking a deep breath. ‘It is her.’ The scent of strawberries invaded his nose. Wrapping his arms around her slender waist, he pulled her closer to him, continuing his long awaited confession.

“I planned to ask you to be mine when I found you but now I’m actually rather nervous that you might reject me.” Fearing to look her in the eyes he kissed her neck lightly. “Will you be mine? I won’t screw up, let me show you.” Fear and anxiety began to build up as silence filled the air. ‘Please don’t let her say no. Not after all this time…’ He shook his head and slowly lifted it he saw tears in her beautiful green eyes.

Covering her face leaned her covered face on his chest. “I can’t take it if someone cheated on me again…” He stroked her hair, promising to slaughter who ever had been stupid enough to cheat on her in the first place but decided to ask later. Right now he needed her to say ‘yes’ before he lost his mind.

“I would never do that.”

She shook her head. “How can you say that? How can you be sure?” He slowly removed her hands from her face smiling a smile that took her breath away.

“Why would I do something as stupid as that? Risking something I’ve been searching for years for…” She bit her lip and his smile grew. Feeling his face get closer she had had it. She didn’t want to lose this feeling again. Roughly pulling on his shirt, she pulled him down placing her lips on his.

Breaking the kiss she turned and covered her mouth. “I need to get home. I have to pick up Syuu-kun.”

The boy frowned and wrapped his arms around her from behind. “Can I stay over?” She turned her head and glared before smacking his arm lightly. “What? If I take my eyes off you, you may disappear again.” He turned her, keeping a firm hold on her. “What will I do if I lose my goddess again?” He ignored her questioning eyes and leaned down stealing another kiss from those delicious lips.

‘Maybe, it’s true that first crushes last forever…’ She thought, before smiling and wrapping her arms around his neck, deepening the kiss.

Finally letting her lips free, only because he had remembered they bother needed air to live, he leaned his forehead on hers, smirking. She looked him in the eyes and smirked back. “I’m still not giving you my notes.”

He laughed. “Smart ass.” He kissed her lips again, deciding that this was better than what any fan club could offer.
