Comforts of a Stranger
“That lying, double dealing, vile two timer!” She drank another shot and slammed the glass on the bar, just short of breaking it. “Rough week
?” The woman looked up at the bar keep and sighed. She laughed bitterly as she twirled the empty shot glass on the counter. “You have no idea…” He filled up another glass and pushed it towards her. “It’s on the house…” The bartender smiled and went to his other costumers.
‘Betrayal…’ She thought sipping on her drink. Not just any betrayal but the godfather of all betrayals. Her best friend and her boyfriend. “Out of all the girls he had to sleep with it had to be her.” She muttered downing the rest of the drink. “Because if it was with someone you didn’t care about it wouldn’t hurt as much.” Her head shot to the man a few seats away. “People need to mind their own business.” She huffed at him. “Then don’t talk aloud.” She glanced around the bar/club they were now inhabiting. Music blaring, people screaming…how did he hear her? She glared slightly at the offending man. “You must have been listening mighty closely.” He finally looked up at her smirking. “How could I not? Such a pretty woman looking so depressed would get anyone’s attention.”
rolled her eyes and ordered another drink. “If that was a line it was horrible. Try again.” The guy stood and sat in the stool next to her. Eyeing him oddly she finally got a good look at this young man. Young being the key word. The guy didn’t even look old enough to be drinking. Even so she had to admit he was rather handsome. Without thinking, probably because she was starting to feel tipsy, she lifted her arm and ruffled the boys wild silver hair. It was his turn to look at her oddly. She quickly took her hand away blushing slightly. “You still shouldn’t listen to people when they are being crazy and talking to themselves. It could get you in trouble.” He shook his head and went to take another sip of his bottle of beer. She snatched the beer from his hand, frowning slightly he raised an eyebrow. “You’re too young to drink!” She demanded holding the bottle away from him. He sighed grabbing the full shot glass that sat in front of her and quickly downed the liquid, she reached trying to stop him but it was too late. Suddenly his face contorted in extreme digest. She couldn’t hold back her giggles at his expression. “What the hell is that?” He slurred holding out his now burning tongue. She lowered her eyelids smirking slightly. “That’s what big kids drink sweetie.” She took a sip of his beer and set it back on the bar.
He was too caught up in her to be offended by her words. He found himself wondering why she was so upset and wishing he could make her smile. ‘I bet she has a beautiful smile.’ He thought still trying to stop his tongue from burning off. She watched him tend to his burning tongue from the corner of her eye. ‘He’s really handsome but why is he here. He’s can’t be old enough.’ Twirling the empty shot glass again she waited for the bartender to bring her another. She sighed feeling his eyes on her. Turning to face him she crossed her legs. He took a moment to look her up and down appreciating her in his own way. “Is there something you’d like dear or am I just that nice to look at?” He smirked and looked her in the eyes. Frowning slightly when he saw sadness and pain in those rather stunning eyes. “What’s your name?” He leaned his elbow on the bar and continued to stare at her. She considered her options as she let the music of the club take over her senses. She glanced around at the people dancing on the dance floor. Watching bodies rub against eachother, scoffing at them before turning her attention to the man that waited patiently for her answer. “You can call me
if you wish.” Turning back to face the bar she thanked the bartender for her next drink. ‘Only a few more…’ She thought miserably. Already being able to feel the effects of the drinks she had been drowning herself in since she arrived she knew it would only take a few more before she was completely incoherent. Just where she wanted to be, in the land of complete bliss where nothing seemed to matter. The man next to her seemed to sense her slightly morbid thoughts and pushed the glass aside. Glaring at him slightly he took her arm and pulled her gently, but dominantly, towards the dance floor.
Before she could protest he pulled her body to his and began to sway to the music. Feeling light headed from the sudden standing motion she reasoned that his body against her back was far from uncomfortable. She felt his hands on her hips as the two moved together. Her head becoming more and more fuzzy, so she leaned her head back onto his chest. She shuddered lightly taking in his scent. Past the delicious smelling cologne he wore she could smell his natural scent and it delighted her. He smiled as he leaned down and nuzzled her neck doing the exact same thing. Running his hands over her stomach and hips he laid small pecks on her neck. Giggling at the feeling on her neck she suddenly forgot why she was there drinking in the first place. She leaned back on the man giving him full control of how they moved. She sighed, relaxing in his hold. Not bothering to think about that man or that woman. Drinks finally taking their toll she went still in his arms holding onto him to prevent from hitting the floor. He leaned down hot breath against her ear. “Are you alright?” Nodding she rubbed her fingers through his hair. “Fresh air…” He smiled against her neck. Holding her close he slowly lead them out of the bar.
Shivering slightly when the cool breeze hit her slightly damp skin. Sitting on the sidewalk she sighed. “Feeling better?” She looked up at the man she had been in the company of for the past few hours. Smiling up at him she nodded turning slightly, her eyes landed on a couple leaning against the clubs outer wall kissing. Smiling quickly disappearing she no longer wished to be there. Standing only to fall against the man she shook her head trying to clear it. Reaching in her bag she took out her keys and slowly made her way to her car. Trying to make sure she didn’t stumble and fall which was rather hard seeing as she saw at least two of everything. Following after her the guy raised an eyebrow. She took the keys to put them into the door but they were snatched away. “You can’t drive!” She glared at the boy and tried to reach her keys. “I want to go home!” He held them out of reach and led her to the passenger side of the car. Opening the door he gentle sat her in it before closing it and taking up the drivers seat. “Where too lovely?” He winked at her as she crossed her arms and huffed. “I don’t even know you why would I allow you to, not only drive my car, but also come to my house.” He started the car and leaned over kissing her cheek lightly. “You can call me Niou if you wish and it’s the only way you are getting home. I wont let you drive.” Blushing when she felt his lips on her cheek she looked down. Mumbling her address which thankfully he knew how to get to.
Pulling up the drive way of the rather large apartment complex he turned the car off. “Come up, let me get some coffee and then I’ll give you a ride home.” Taking her keys from him she got out of the car not bothering to see if he followed. Nodding he followed her into the building, up the stairs and in through her apartment door. Taking her shoes off she dropped her bag uncaring where it fell and made her way through the large apartment to the kitchen. He whistled taking in his surroundings. ‘Must have a good job or a lot of money.’ He took his shoes off and followed her. Putting the water on to get hot she excused herself to get changed into something else. He idly walked around the kitchen when something caught his eye. Looking down in the almost full trash bin he looked around the corner to see if she was coming back. Realizing she wasn’t he picked up the slightly cracked photo from the trash can. “Ah…” Was all he said as he stared down at
who had her arms wrapped around a mans neck. Both were smiling happily basking in the sunlight of that day. “Looks real doesn’t it?” He jumped and turned to see her pouring them both a cup of coffee. Looking back at the picture she sighed. “Actually thought we’d be together forever then.” She took a sip of her coffee handing Niou his own. “Ah, to be young and foolish.” He nodded slightly dropping the picture back into the bin and set his coffee on the table.
eyed him suspiciously as he took the warm drink from her hands and placed it on the counter. “Doesn’t sound foolish to me…” Without hesitating he leaned down and placed his lips on hers. Keeping his eyes locked on hers he waited for the shock to fade. Finally getting her mind caught up she pushed back onto his lips letting her eyes close. Smiling against her lips he pulled her body flush with his running his tongue over her lips and through her mouth.
Lifting her to sit on the counter his lips never left hers. She ran her hands through his wild mass of hair and he ran his on her smooth back under her shirt. Placing his hands still on her hips he slowly pulled away lightly sucking on her bottom lip before opening his eyes. Frowning slightly as she covered her face with her hands but he could still hear her slight sniffles. ‘She’s crying…’ He thought pulling her into a tight embrace. She stiffened before snuggling into the warmth. ‘You brought a strange man to your house, you kissed him and now you’re crying on his shoulder. Are you insane? Get your control back and throw him out!’ The slight logic that still existed in her mind was screaming. It was quickly pushed away as he slowly rubbed her back whispering calming noises in her ear. Putting his one hand on her back, the other under her rump, he lifted her up and held her close to his body. She shrieked lowly holding onto his neck tightly. Plopping onto the couch he adjusted the way he held her and leaned back in a laying position. She lay half on top of him unmoving. Pulling the blanket from the back of the couch he covered them both and began rubbing his hands gently down her side and back. Suddenly feeling extremely relaxed and relieved she felt her eyes closing and exhaustion taking hold of her. ‘You shouldn’t fall asleep on a stranger…’ “But it’s so warm.” Was her last coherent thought and mumbling before she slipped into unconsciousness.
The sun beat on her sleeping face through the window. Whining slightly she turned to try to escape it. Being unsuccessful she sat up but regretted it greatly. Holding her head she groaned. Throwing her blanket off she slowly got out of her bed and made her way towards the bathroom. Taking the proper drugs to rid herself of the pounding in her head. ‘Wait…how did I get into my room? Where is that guy!’ Panic suddenly overwhelmed her. ‘Did I sleep with him?’ She sat on her bed and tried to think back. “I cried…onto the shoulder of a complete stranger.” She growled out falling back on her bed. 'He probably thinks I'm crazy.' Covering her eyes with her hands she sighed. ‘But I do feel better.’ A small smile graced her lips. “Well nothing I can do about it now.” She got up to make herself something to eat. Walking through the halls past the living room. She stopped and took a few steps backwards. Eyeing the object on her coffee table she slowly walked towards it. Sitting on her couch she bit her bottom lip. Poking the object she smirked. Picking it up she also picked up the folded piece of paper under it. Opening it she read.
, falling in love, trusting someone and hoping to spend together forever is not foolish. The only fool in this is him for leaving. Don’t let him ruin anymore of your life. Love…trust and be happy. You’re much more beautiful when a smile graces those delicious lips. She could almost picture that smirk as she read, her cheeks flushed and slight tears in her eyes. And I wouldn’t mind getting in a little trouble if the crazy person talking to themselves is you again. That sexy flirty wink came to her mind and she let out a small laugh. She twirled the stem of the red rose in the finger tips as she read the last line. “The sweetest flower that blows, I give you as we part. For you it is a Rose, For me it is my heart.” -Niou She leaned back on the couch putting the flower under her nose and taking in it’s wonderful scent. Smiling she ran her fingers over the soft petals. “He’s pretty cheeky for a kid…” She closed her eyes deciding to try to sleep a little longer. ‘Maybe last night wasn’t so bad after all…’
