The girl stood stiff as a board,
eyes squeezed tightly. ‘I’m going to kill him, I’m going to kill him.’ She
repeated in her mind over and over again. ‘How did I end up in this situation?’
She felt her nails digging into the skin of her palm as she peeked out of one of
her eyes, only to scream as a large, scary, deformed monster jumped out at her.
“MOMO!!!!!!”
Stubborn Fear
She sighed,
closed her eyes, and leaned back against the tree. She was too tired to get up
and get ready to go to class and far too comfy. A light, cool breeze swirled
around her, causing her loose hair to fall out of place. Taking a deep breath
she peeked out from behind her eyelids when a weight had been lifted from her
lap. Stretching
his arms above his head, he let out a yawn. Turning to face the girl, whose lap
his head was just resting in, he smiled tucking her loose hairs behind her ear.
“We better get to class.” He snickered at the cute pout that found its way to
her lips. “Yeah, yeah.”
She grumbled as he stood and helped her to her feet. Before she
could protest anymore he kissed her cheek and took her hand, leading her towards
the school. “Don’t worry! We’re going out this weekend, remember!” She tilted
her head trying to remember, ‘Oh yeah. We’re going to that Halloween thing with
the team.’ She just nodded and sluggishly followed her boyfriend back to the
classrooms. ---- “Are you sure
-chan knows where we’re going?” Echizen asked, looking up at his senpai
suspiciously. Momo nodded
as they made their way to pick up his girlfriend. Echizen rolled his eyes,
doubting that actually knew anything about this outing. ‘There’s no way
she’d agree to go.’ As they
walked towards her house, Momo turned to his group of friends smiling. “You all
go on ahead, we’ll catch up.” They nodded and kept walking as he made his way to
her front door and knocked. ---- “Mom, I’m
going out with Momo-chan tonight.” called down to her mother as she got out
of the shower. She walked into her room and rummaged through her wardrobe. ‘What
to wear?’ Twenty
minutes later there was a knock at her door. She hopped towards it, pulling her
shoe on and grabbing her bag. “Coming!” She opened the door, tripping over her
own feet and landing in the arms of their visitor. “Slow down
sweetie.” Momo smiled down at his girlfriend, not that he minded having to catch
her or anything. stood
blushing slightly and smoothing the wrinkles out of her skirt. “It’s your fault
for being so close to the door.” She mumbled, walking out and closing the door
behind her. “Lets go!” She continued walking past him and down the pathway.
“Where is everyone?” She looked up and down the street seeing no one. Strong arms
wrap around her middle from behind. “Told them to go ahead, while I waited for
you.” He pouted and turned to face her. “Why? It’s them you wanted to see, isn’t
it?” She rolled
her eyes before wrapping her arms around his and lightly pulling him down the
street. “C’mon, you goof! And stop pouting before I really start to feel like
I’ve done something wrong.” He smiled
before shaking his head and leading her towards their location. ---- Looking up at
the dark, scary, decorated building, she couldn’t stop the shudder that ran
through her body. “Mo… mmm… Momo…” She took a deep breath to stop her stutter.
“What do you have planed today?” Gulping, she prayed he didn’t say what she
thought he was going to say. “Well, it’s
Halloween. So, a haunted house of course!” He smiled, hugging his girlfriend as
they walked up to their group of friends. “Oh, yeah…”
If anyone paid attention they would of seen her face pale slightly and her hands
tremble. “Don’t be
scared, I’ll protect you from the big bad monsters.” He chuckled, holding her
close. “I… I’m not
scared!” She lightly pushed him off of her and greeted their friends. ---- She held onto
the back of his shirt as they walked through the narrow dark hallway. ‘None of
this is real… none of this is real.’ She repeated in her mind over and over,
trying to keep her calm. Momo smiled
back at his girlfriend, all girls were a little jumpy when it came to things
like this so he wasn’t too concerned. felt
something hot run across the back of her neck, she closed her eyes and stopped
walking. She felt Momo’s shirt slip from her fingers and his footsteps grow
further and further away. The silence of the room was killing her but she took a
few deep breaths, trying to calm herself. The girl
stood stiff as a board, eyes squeezed tightly. ‘I’m going to kill him, I’m going
to kill him.’ She mumbled to herself. ‘How did I end up in this situation?’ She
felt her nails digging into the skin of her palm as she peeked out of one of her
eyes. Only to scream as a large, scary, deformed monster jumped out at her.
“MOMO!!!!!!” ---- Momo turned
around, realizing wasn’t behind him anymore. Echizen turned to his older
friend. “Where’d she go?” Momo shrugged
but turned and started making his way backwards. ‘How far back is she?’ He
nearly jumped out of his skin when he heard her scream his name. Quickly he
turned the corner and had to hold back a chuckle. stood
with her hands covering her face and he could just barely hear her mumbling ‘I’m
going to kill him.’ He walked up to her and placed his hands on his shoulders,
trying not to scare her. It didn’t help much; she still jumped and let out a low
scream. “…” He
whispered in a calm but amused voice before pulling her into his chest. “You
alright?” She shook her
head and hid in his chest. “I hate the dark, I hate scary things, I hate
monsters, I hate ghost, and I hate creepy things and spiders!” She tried to bury
her face deeper into his chest. “The only thing I like about Halloween is the
candy! Scary is NOT fun!” Momo wanted
to laugh but he highly doubted she would have been happy if he did. “Why didn’t
you tell me you were that scared?” He questioned softly, rubbing her back trying
to reassure her that everything was all right. “Everything here is fake, ,
don’t worry.” “Boo” A voice
spoke to the two teens. looked up
at the unknown voice before screaming. ---- Momo giggled
as he sat next to his girlfriend on a bench outside of the haunted house.
Thinking of what just happened, how could he not? “Um, are
you two alright?” The zombie like monster asked the two teens. Momo
nodded shielding his girlfriend from the scary haunted house worker. “Yeah,
she’s just scared. Better get her out of here before she kills me.” He laughed
at the last statement. The worker
nodded and pointed behind him. “There’s an emergency exit over here, I can let
you two out if you think she won’t be able to make it to the end.” Momo
looked down at his girlfriend as he felt her tiny body shake. “I want out!” She
demanded not opening her eyes, fear of seeing the scary man that was trying to
help them. The man
smiled and led them out, but not before a fair warning. “I’d keep her away from
the haunted hayride, it’s said to be scarier then this.” He laughed closing the
door after they left. “It’s not
funny.” She mumbled, frowning behind the ice cream she made him buy her as a
start of his compensation. He took a
lick of her ice cream and nodded. “I know, but you have to admit, you are
absolutely adorable when you are scared witless.” She growled
lightly before turning so most of her back faced him. “Stupid scary stuff, I
prefer Christmas!” She mumbled, enjoying the cold treat. Momo scooted
closer, leaning his chin on her shoulder. “So I suppose the hayride is out of
the question?” He couldn’t stop the smirk that was on his face. “Only if you
want this ice cream smashed into your face.” She replied smartly. Before poking
his nose with said ice cream. “You can go on it with the others if you like,
I’ll wait here!” Shaking his
head he watched his friends climb onto the ride. “It’s no fun unless my cute
girlfriend is all scared cuddled up to me.” “Silly
boyfriend and stupid Halloween stuff.” She mumbled glaring at the evil hayride.
She growled lightly before standing, throwing her ice cream in the trash.
Turning, she grabbed his arm and pulled him towards the stupid ride. “I’m NOT
scared!” She demanded, climbing onto it with him. ---- Momo sat down
on the hay covers seat, pulling his girlfriend to sit next to him. “Are you sure
-chan? It’s alright if you’re scared and don’t want to go on.” shot him
a less than threatening glare. “I’m not scared!” She growled out. The ride
started to move and Momo felt her hand tighten on his own. As they traveled
further into the darkness he loop his arm around her shoulders and pulled her
closer. Peek down at her he couldn’t help but grin. She was trying so hard to
look tough; it was probably one of the cutest things he’d ever witnessed. ‘I’m not
scared, I’m not scared…’ She bit hard into her bottom lip, almost drawing blood.
The bushes behind her rustled and she squeezed her eyes closed. “Okay, I lied.
I’m terrified!” She whispered, nearly crawling into her boyfriends lap. Momo could
only chuckle as he rubbed his hands down his girlfriends back. “There is no
emergency exit on this ride, .” “No time for
jokes, Mister!” She growled trying to bury her face further into his chest as
she hears a chainsaw go off in the distance. “If we get attacked by zombies, I’m
letting them eat you first.” She smiled to herself, trying to make light of the
situation. “Ne, didn’t I
tell you I’d protect you from the monsters?” He whispered into her ear, and then
kissed her cheek. Just as a man jumped on the side of the large ride, screaming.
flinched,
covering her hands over her ears, still not leaving the safety of Momo’s lap.
“They can’t touch us right?” She whimpered out. ‘I’ll break
their hand if they do.’ He thought grimly before he leaned back, cradling in
his arms. “Nope, you’re safe right here.” “Right…” She
let herself go into her own world, trying to block out the scariness. ---- Shaking her
head she leaned against the gate surrounding her home. “Never… Never again!” She
glared back at Momo who only grinned. “I told you,
you didn’t have to go on.” He held back laugh. “You nearly knocked that man
out.” “He snuck up
on me! I didn’t mean too.” She turned to him, crossing her arms and stomping her
foot. “He was
asking you if you knew where the bathroom was…” He took a cautious step towards
her. “Yeah, but he
should of made sure he was in clear view before he spoke, then I wouldn’t of
swung my bag at him and he wouldn’t have gotten hurt.” She mumbled and pouted at
how stupid she sounded. “You were
scared…” He took her hand in his, smirking. “Of course I
was!” She poked his chest. “You knew I would be. That’s why you took me!” He frowned at
the accusation. “I thought you’d be jumpy, like most girls. I didn’t think you
were that scared of it all. You should have told me.” Looking away
she sighed. “I’m going in, I’ll see you later.” She turned to walk up the
pathway to her house. ‘What…’
Reaching out he grabbed her arm and pulled her back, pinning her between him and
the gate. “, you can’t seriously be angry at me…” kept her
eyes locked on her shoes. She wasn’t really mad at him, she was angry with
herself for being so scared over stupid things. She was acting like a baby and
she knew it. “No…” She mumbled, still seemingly very interested in dirt below
her feet. Finally
taking a deep breath he let go of her arm and put each of his hands on her
shoulders. “I don’t care if you’re scared; it’s cute but you have to tell me
these things so I don’t take you to things like that. I don’t like seeing you
upset, ya know.” He leaned down and kissed her cheek. “You don’t have to act
tough in front of me, okay?” She nodded,
finally looking up at him. “I… I can deal with scary movies, but not haunted
houses or anything where they like, jump out at me.” Her voice was hardly above
a whisper. “And I’m not acting tough; I am tough.” She stuck her tongue out at
him, trying to lighten the mood. She didn’t like serious Momo too much. He smiled,
hugging her and kissed her lips. “Hmm, my cute little scaredy-cat.” growled
and pushed him away slightly. “I’m going in!” She opened the door to enter her
house. “Awe, come on
.” He laughed out, smiling at his silly girlfriend. turned,
flashed him a small smile but then stuck her tongue out. “I’ll see you tomorrow
Momo.” She walked in and closed the door. “Yeah,
tomorrow.” He stuffed his hands in his pockets and started his short walk home.
Taking a few glances back at his girlfriends house until he reached the corner.
Before the house was out of sight, he turned and smiled. “I love you, .” He
turned back around and ran towards his house. The sooner he got to sleep, the
sooner he could see her again.
