Pure Fallen

The girl ran her fingers through the black mess of hair. She smiled down at the boy who had his head comfortably rested in her lap. “Ne, Akaya…” He opened his eyes and looked up at the girl. Smiling he reached up twirling a piece of her long pretty hair.

“Hmm.” Sadness flickered over her eyes causing him to sit up, concern written all over his face. “What’s wrong ?” She shook her head.

“I’m leaving tomorrow…” The boy went into a slight panic.

“You said you were here for the rest of the vacation! There’s still another week!” The girl looked down and he noticed the tears forming in her eyes. He pulled her into his arms and lightly stroking her hair.

“My fathers company called him back early. I don’t want to leave yet…” She held onto his the front of his shirt as if she would die if separated from him.

“It’s okay . You don’t have to leave till tomorrow. Let’s not be sad now…” He leaned down and kissed her sweet lips. Leaning back he looked into her beautiful green eyes. “, I…”

[Beep beep beep]

“I…”

[Beep beep beep]

Groaning Kirihara Akaya pounded his hand down on the annoying alarm clock.

“Akaya! Get up, you have morning practice!”

Kirihara stretched and threw his legs over the side of his bed to get ready for the day. Throughout his entire morning routine he thought about that night and the girl he had met over his summer vacation. He would be lying if he didn’t miss her, that smile and laugh, but he wouldn’t want her to see him this way, not how he acted at school or on the court. He was only sweet to her and he didn’t want her to hate him. ‘I wonder if she remembers me.’

“I’m off!” He yelled walking through the front door.

·········

Oshitari fixed her hair in the mirror before there was a bang on her bedroom door.

Her brother, Oshitari Kenya, poked his head in. “Ready? The guys are here already.” nodded grabbing her bag and following her brother out the door.

“We’re off!” They yelled in unison before walking out the front door.

She smiled at the three guys that stood before her. “Good morning!”

Zaizen Hikaru, tennis teammate of her brother and her classmate, smiled, putting his arm around her shoulder. “It’s always a good morning when you greet us, -chan.”

She puffed her cheeks as her brother removed the boys arm, glaring slightly. She sighed as they made their way down the path they took every morning to their school, Shitenhouji Chuu. She continued walking beside her older brother while she let her mind wander. ‘I wonder if he remembers me.’

-neechan~” She looked up smiling as the hyperactive first year ran up to her.

“Morning, Kintarou-kun…” Patting the boys head she made her way to class where another boring day was going to pass.

·········

smacked her senpai, Kuranosuke Shiraishi, captain of her brother’s tennis team, hand. “Don’t touch yet! It’s not cooled.” He frowned and rubbed his hand.

“I think you are the only person who could get away with that, -chan.” Konjiki Koharu another teammate laughed out, quickly dodging the wooden spoon thrown at him by his captain.

“Now, now boys play nice or I won’t let you eat over.” laughed she had been accustomed to the boys coming over and staying for dinner. It was no big deal. and Kenya’s parents were rarely home and she did most of the cooking anyway. ‘What’s serving a few extra mouths?’ She thought shaking her head.

[Ring Ring]

She wiped her hands on her apron and went to get the phone but not before looking back only to catch Kuranosuke trying to eat unprepared food again. Picking up the phone she yelled back, “Don’t you dare touch that! Hello, Oshitari residents.” She heard a light chuckle.

“Hello, -chan.”

Her face lit up and she shrieked. “Yuu-niisan!” All eyes turned in her direction.

“You sound good -chan. How’s that brother of yours? He’s been taking good care of you?” giggled.

“Yeah yeah, he’s trying but his mean ole’ friends keep eating the food before I’m finished!” She playfully glared at the group, who looked like little boys who had their hands caught in the cookie jar.

“Ne, give me the phone. Yuushi didn’t call to chat with you about cooking!” pouted and turned her back to her brother.

“Is it true Yuu-niisan? You don’t want to talk to me?” She sniffled lightly putting on her best act.

Yuushi smirked to himself. “Why would I want to talk to that annoying brother of yours when I can talk to a pretty girl like you, -chan?” smiled proudly and stuck her tongue out at her brother.

-chan, I think something’s burning…”

gasped. “Got to go Yuu-niisan!” She threw the phone at her brother and ran back into the kitchen, hoping she got the food before it was ruined.

Finally sitting down to dinner she smiled happily at her own little family that surrounded the table. “You can eat now…” She laughed out as the boys dug in talking happily.

“Yuushi wants us to visit for the holidays…” looked at her older brother then frowned. Looking down at her food and playing with it with her fork.

“So they aren’t coming back again this year?” Her brother and his teammates looked over the girl.

“You can always come to our houses, -chan.” shook her head and forced a smile on her face.

“It’s okay! I want to see Yuu-niisan! It’s been a long time.” They looked at the girl, unsure if she was telling the truth.

“Plus, Yuu-niisan let’s me win sometimes when we play tennis. Not like you mean boys!” She laughed pointing at them with her fork. Knowing that she was just joking, the boys always played fairly with her in tennis, Kenya nodded and continued his dinner.

·········

A month had past and Christmas was right around the corner. untied her apron and laid it on the chair in the kitchen. Since her and Kenya would be at Yuushi’s she decided to have a small Christmas party for her friends here today, a week or so before Christmas.

‘The boy’s should be here any minute. I better get ready.’ She walked off towards her room to change and quickly grab the gifts she had bought for the boys. She gathered up the gifts, looking down at the lone green and red wrapped box still lying on the bed. She bit her lip thinking how silly she had been to get him a gift. She doubted she would ever meet the boy she went out with during the summer vacation again.

-chan~” She was shook out of her thoughts when she heard the singing voice come from downstairs. “Where are you?”

She put on her best smile and walked down the steps with presents in her arms. “-clause is here!” She giggled and handed out the gifts, receiving a hug and a gift from each of the boys in return.

“Ne, -chan. Where’s your angel necklace? You always wear it.” put her hand on her chest where her necklace usually laid.

“Ah, I don’t know. It was there the other day and I just noticed this morning it was missing.” Kenya looked knowingly at his sister, she had bought that for herself and loved it dearly, she was probably more upset then she showed for losing it.

“Well, maybe it’s around the house somewhere. I hope you find it.” He suggested. She nodded and they walked into the dinning room.

·········

She sat in his lap with her back against his chest. Laying her head back on his shoulder he ran his hand down around her neck. Setting his fingers on the small angel hanging from her necklace.

“Where’d you get this?” He twirled it lightly on his finger.

“Bought it for myself. Pretty, isn‘t it?” He nodded pulling it lightly to the side to look at it more carefully.

“I don’t think an angel needs to wear an angel necklace though, .” She giggled and shook her head taking his hand, letting the necklace fall back to her body.

“You’re a dork.” She smiled as he kissed her temple and played with her fingers, watching another day passed by.

smiled at the memory. She pulled her jacket around her tighter. ‘I hate the cold.’ She thought as she got off the train. Looking around she got slightly upset when she couldn’t find her cousin. Something came up and Kenya was going to arrive in a few days. So Mai stood in the huge train station alone, being jostled and shoved.

Yuushi looked around the platform for his cousin. He started to get nervous when he couldn’t find her, she was rather short for her age and people in the station didn’t care about anything as long as they got where they needed to be. He pushed his way through the group swearing he’d kill Kenya for making his poor little sister come here alone.

He felt something tug on his sleeve and before he turned around he felt a body huddling close to his back. “Yuu-niisan…”

He sighed once he heard the whispering voice and turned patting the girl on the head. “Come on. Lets get out of this mess, ne.” She nodded.

Wrapping his arm around her shoulder he kept her close to avoid anyone from hurting her. When they reached a less crowed area he looked down at the small suitcase she held. “That’s all you brought?” He took it from her and led her to the waiting car.

“Yep, Kenya said he will bring the rest when he comes in tomorrow.” He nodded in understanding and opened the door for her.

During the car ride Yuushi looked over at his cousin who had been unusually quiet. “-chan, are you alright?” She nodded and flashed him her ever perfect smile. “Oh, yes before I forget. A few friends from school are at my house.” raised an eyebrow.

“Oh, I’m not intruding on anything am I? I won’t get in your way! I promise.” She waved her hands in front of herself panicking. Yuushi smirked, his little cousin was adorable and that in itself was the problem at the moment.

“No, they just showed up an hour or so before I left to get you. If they make you uncomfortable I will ask them to leave.” smiled at her cousins’ caring tone. No matter how much people told her that Yuushi was some sort of playboy he had never treated her with anything but kindness and respect.

“It’s not a problem Yuu-niisan; it will be fun to meet your friends from school.” He nodded as she turned her eyes back to the passing scenery out the window.

Yuushi sighed it would have been easier if she had asked him to get them to leave. He was rather annoyed that they had showed up. They had said it was a spur of the moment choice to hang out at Yuushi’s but he knew the real reason. Ever since Atobe had seen that picture of and Yuushi a month or so ago he had been trying to get information out of him about her. Yuushi figured Atobe had found out that would be arriving today and hence the ‘spur of the moment’ trip was decided. He knew wasn’t a stupid girl, nor would she fall for Atobe’s charm but he couldn’t help but be a little nervous, it was Atobe Keigo he was dealing with here. He was brought back to reality when a small hand touched his arm.

“Yuu-niisan, are you alright?” He looked at the girl who had worry written all over her face and nodded smiling. “We’re at your house Yuu-niisan…” She smirked at his lack of concentration.

He blushed slightly as the door to the car opened. “So we are…”

·········

gulped and stepped back grabbing Yuushi’s sleeve. “Are you okay, -chan?” She looked up at her cousin.

“They’re all looking at me like I’m going to sprout roses or something.” He grinned; this is what made so adorably cute. She had an innocent air around her making every guy that came in contact with her want to protect her or in Atobe’s case entrap that innocence that is so hard to find.

“So, what should Ore-sama call you? Oshitari-san?” ’s eyes widened as the handsome boy spoke up.

“Ne, did he just call himself ore-sama?” Yuushi chuckled and nodded.

“Atobe is quite a unique character.” He whispered in her ear.

“Aa…” said nodded and looking over the boys in the room again. ‘I think tennis players are like attracted to me like magnets.’ She took a deep breath, letting a beautiful cheery smile grace her lips. “Hello! I’m -chan! Nice to meet you all!”

The boys were taken back by the shy girl’s sudden introduction but Atobe just smirked. ‘Oh, she’s adorable.’ He thought as Yuushi sighed, knowing the smirk on his captain’s face.

After getting to know the new group of boys they had dinner and couldn’t help but smile. Even if they weren’t anything like her boys from home they made her feel like she had known them forever but she was tired. The train ride had wrecked her nerves. She yawned and rubbed her eyes as they sat in the lounge after dinner talking and watching TV.

“Are you tired -chan?” She laid her head on the closest shoulder which happened to be Mukahi Gakuto and nodded.

Yuushi stood and was going to make his way to the girl. “Come on, I’ll take you to your room.”

She stood up quickly and shook her head. “Nope, you stay here! I know where my room is!” She pushed him to sit back down and made her way to the door. Bowing slightly, she flashed them a smile that made most of them blush. “Thank you for being so nice to me this evening! It was fun! Goodnight!” She turned and walked out of the room, heading towards her room to that warm comfy bed that awaited her.

“Well she’s adorable, Yuushi.” Said boy looked over at Atobe and shrugged his shoulders. He knew was adorable he didn’t need Atobe to tell him and he didn’t really like the other boy telling him either. “What do you have planed for tomorrow?”

Yuushi sighed; he knew where this was going. Mind as well get it over with. “Would you like to accompany us late tomorrow afternoon Atobe?” Atobe smirked and nodded, he wanted to know why he couldn’t join them in the morning or early afternoon but he didn’t want to push it.

“Call Ore-sama with the details.” He said as him and his fellow teammates got up to leave. Yuushi smirked as the door closed leaving him alone in the lounge. He would let Atobe think he was having his way, trying to get closer to . But he wasn’t really worried because if people thought he was overprotective of his cute little cousin they, more than likely, hadn’t met her older brother. And if it was one thing Yuushi was certain of was that when Kenya got here, Atobe wouldn’t get within ten feet of the girl without Kenya breaking his arms.

·········

Kirihara sighed for the tenth time today.

“What’s wrong with you? It’s Christmas shouldn’t you be…I don’t know cheerful.” He glared at his senpai, Niou Masaharu. “Oh, I forgot the demon boy wouldn’t like Christmas.” Kirihara went to rebut but was interrupted.

“Niou, stop making fun of Kirihara.” Another senpai of his, Yagyuu Hiroshi, reprimanded the silver haired boy.

“Che…it’s just Christmas, it’s no big deal.” Kirihara looked out of the window and sighed again. If it wasn’t such a big deal why did he feel like such crap? The two older boys looked at their junior wondering what had put him in such a down mood. They didn’t bother to ask because they knew that their younger friend would deny it and refuse to talk any further.

“Ne, Kirihara, a few of us are going to that sports center to play tennis tomorrow. How about coming with your senpai and playing a few games?” Niou smirked at the boy knowing he had got his attention.

“Fine.”

Niou nodded to his partner. ‘Mission: cheer up their little buddy.’

·········

“Where are we going now Yuu-niisan?” jumped in front of him hands behind her back. Yuushi had taken out all day. First they went shopping, then to her favorite restaurant for lunch, and now he was taking her somewhere else but he said it was a surprise.

“Just wait we will be there soon.” She pouted but listened walking next to him. “Ah, Atobe, Shishido and Ootori are going to be meeting us there.” nodded but Yuushi noted the confused look on her face. “You don’t want to hang around them?” He opened the door to the car and ushered her into it before getting in after.

“It’s not that! They are all really nice! It’s just…” She bit her lip and looked away. How was she supposed to tell her cousin that the way Atobe looked at her made her feel like some sort of prey. Sighing she twirled a piece of her long hair.

-chan?” She looked up and smiled.

“It’s nothing. Just thought I’d have Yuu-niisan all to myself today!” Hugging his arm he smiled patting her head.

‘She’s a bad liar…’ He thought as they pulled up to their location. “We’re here.” looked out the window. Confused she opened the door and climbed out.

“Ah!” She jumped slightly and turned back to him. “You’re going to play me in tennis!” He nodded at her pure happiness. He supposed the love for tennis was something in their blood and even though wasn’t a master at the sport, having played amazing players her whole life gave her a mean back hand.

“You so rock Yuu-niisan! Does that mean your friends will play me too?” He shrugged his shoulders and took their bags from the trunk of the car.

“Let’s go ask them.” She quickly followed her cousin into the sports center, grinning ear to ear.

·········

“Che, what are you doing here?” Kirihara looked up at the three Hyotei boys. Niou grinned putting his arm on his junior’s shoulder.

“Now now, Akaya-kun. Sanada wouldn’t like you starting trouble with our competitors now would he?” Kirihara sneered, looking at the offending arm.

“Well, why don’t we all have fun today and play some tennis together?” They all looked up at Yanagi Renji.

Atobe ran his fingers through his hair and smirked. “Ore-sama plans to have fun today, tennis or no tennis.”

“And what do you mean by that Atobe?” All eyes turned to Yuushi as he smirked at his captain. “Making more friends I see.” He turned his attention to the Rikkai Dai tennis regulars.

“Oi, where is she? Ore-sama didn’t come all the way here to see you.” Atobe frowned slightly as Yuushi ignored him and greeted the other people.

“Che, are we going to play or not?” A demon like smile appeared on Kirihara’s face. “It doesn’t matter who I play. I’ll slaughter ‘em.” Yuushi raised an eyebrow at the strange boy.

“Yuu-niisan…” Smiling he turned to see his cousin running towards them. Atobe eyed the girl up and down followed by Niou who whistled, earning a glare from Yuushi. stopped before her cousin and twirled. Showing off her cute red and white tennis skirt along with her fitted shirt.

“Cute, no?” She giggled and Kirihara froze, not being able to see above his taller company, but he knew that giggle.

…” He whispered loud enough that all eyes turned to him. heard her name, said in a way she only heard one person said it, tilting her head to look behind her cousin her eyes widened.

‘Akaya?’ Her voice seemed to be stuck in her own mind.

Kirihara felt his throat go dry when he saw her face. ‘It’s her…’ His eyes softened as her eyes widened. He quickly looked away before anyone saw the softened features on his face.

-chan, you know Kirihara-san?” looked up at Ootori who asked the question and then towards the other boys who’s eyes were on her.

“I…well…we…umm…” She looked back at Kirihara who growled and turned his back to her.

“Che, if we’re going to play let’s play…” He started walking off.

stiffened; she lowered her eyes, feeling like a knife was jabbed through her heart she shook her head lightly. “No, I guess I mistook him for someone I met on vacation…”

Kirihara glanced back and felt his heart break at the sight. ‘What am I doing?’

Yuushi and Atobe looked at the two second years and then back at each other. Both not buying that excuse.

-chan, would you like to play first or watch?”

Kirihara listened as he pretending to tie his shoe. looked up trying to regain control over her emotions.

“AA…I forgot I have to call niisan…I’ll be back in a moment. You can start without me.” Without hearing an answer she ran off towards the women’s locker room. Leaning against one of the rows of lockers put her hand over her mouth and slid to the floor. ‘He forgot me.’ She bit her lip trying to hold back the tears that were now pouring out of her eyes.

Atobe and Yuushi stood to the side of one of the indoor courts watching Kirihara play his teammate. Atobe smirked, he was sure this boy knew but he thought he better torment him a little before finding out how deep their ‘relationship’ was.

“So, Yuushi…” Yuushi looked over and chuckled inside at his captain’s smirk. “-chan she available right?” Atobe’s smirk grew as they saw Kirihara nearly fall, they were sure he could hear them now.

“As far as I know she is. Why Atobe? You think I will hand my little cousin over too you?”

Kirihara’s mind was running wild. ‘Don’t even think it…I’ll kill him before he even had the chance to touch her.’

“Well, she is rather cute. Ore-sama wouldn’t mind having her by his side.”

“Kirihara! Why did you miss that? That was an easy ball.” His teammate yelled when he missed the easy return.

‘Dammit!’ Kirihara ran his hand through his hair and growled slightly.

“Ore-sama wouldn’t mind seeing how much of that innocence she has is an act…”

“Atobe!” Yuushi wasn’t going to let him talk about like that.

“Do you mind?” Yuushi looked from his smirking captain to a red eyed Kirihara. Kirihara had had it, talking about his like that was not going to happen. He licked him lips and smirked. “You need to stop running your mouth.” He sneered and Yuushi’s eyes widened slightly, what was his relationship with ?

“Yuu-niisan…” All eyes turned to the girl standing not far away. gasped slightly and stepped back when her eyes met with red ones.

Blinking a few times she turned to the person who was now standing next to her. “Are you okay, -chan?”

‘Oh, yeah I came back out here to tell Yuushi something but then…’ She turned to see the back of Kirihara’s head. She bit her lip but smiled at her cousin. “Ah, yea! Niisan arrived moments ago at your house. He said he is going to come here, he should be here any minute.” Yuushi looked down at his cousin and frowned. Something was not right and he didn’t like it.

noticed how everyone looked at her worriedly. Shaking her head she put on her best smile. “Ootori-kun, will you play a game with me? We can be doubles partners.” She bounced over to the boy taking his arm causing him to blush. She laughed and looked around. “We can play against Atobe-san and Yuu-niisan.”

Ootori looked at her like she was crazy. “That’s kind of an unfair pairing.” She looked up at the tall boy confused.

“Mou, you don’t think I’m good Ootori-kun! Fine!” She let go of his arm and grabbed Shishido’s. “You’ll be my partner right Shishido-san?”

Said boy turned his head hiding his blush and nodded. How was he supposed to say no to that face?

beamed and pulled him onto the other court but not before glancing at Kirihara. Atobe and Yuushi shrugged their shoulders and walked onto the court. “What handicap do you want, -chan?”

playfully glared at her cousin before pointing her racket at them. “We don’t need one because we’re going to win, right Shishido-san?” She looked at the boy and saw the doubt all over his face. She pouted and looked down.

“Yeah, we will…” Shishido mumbled out. Quickly recovering from her sadness took the ball and threw it in the air, serving it to the other side.

Niou smirked as he watched his junior. “Well, well what do we have here?” He whispered.

“I believe that she might be the reason Kirihara came back different from vacation.” Yanagi sat down beside Niou whose smirk only grew.

“An angel and a demon huh?” Yanagi only glanced at his teammate before setting his sights back on the game before him.

‘This can’t be happening. Why is she here?’ Kirihara glanced through his fingers as his hands covered his face. If anyone were to look at him it would look as if he was intently watching the doubles match but that would be a lie. His eyes were on one thing and one thing alone, . ‘She’s even prettier.’ He thought watching her run around the court with Shishido. Kirihara stood up. “I’m getting a drink.” He walked off towards the soda machines that were around the corner.

panted slightly. “Mou, we lost.” She looked over at Shishido who had the expression ‘no-shit’ on his face. “It’s okay Shishido-san, next time we’ll get ‘em!” She patted his shoulder and smiled. “Oh, I’m going to get a drink. Does anyone want anything?”

Yuushi stood from the bench. “I’ll get you one…”

shook her head already walking off. “I’m a big girl, Yuu-niisan. I’ll be right back.”

Niou watched in amusement as the girl skipped around the same corner Kirihara just turned around. ‘This could be interesting.’ He stood and walked off to find a decent spying spot.

was counting the money in her hand, so she failed to notice the boy at the soda machine. Kirihara was so lost in his thoughts he didn’t notice the girl turn the corner as he bent down to get his soda.

“Ah, I’m short…” She pouted and looked up. He turned his head and glanced up. “I…” She opened her mouth again but nothing came out. Forgetting she was holding something the coins fell to the ground. “Ah…” She bent down to pick them up; he did the same to help her.

Looking up, still kneeling, she noticed his face was oddly close to hers. “…” His voice was soft and low.

She inhaled sharply. ‘He does remember.’

He dropped the few coins he had picked up for her, eyes never leaving hers. He brushed her falling hair off her face and behind her ear. Smiling a smile no one but her saw he slid his hand behind her neck. Pulling her closer he could feel her breath on his lips. He didn’t care, didn’t care how she got here, who brought her or if she saw him in his ‘demon’ mode. She was here in front of him and he would be able to taste those sweet lips again in just a few…

!” felt someone grab her arm and pull her to her feet.

Kirihara looked up at the intruder and was about to knock him off his feet before spoke.

“Nii…Niisan…” She took a few deep breaths trying to calm her now heated cheeks. “I…I was getting a drink and I dropped my money.” Kenya looked over his sister and at the boy who was still squatting on the ground picking up loose change.

Kirihara stood up keeping his head down and held his hand out. put hers under his and felt his warm hand fall into it. Dropping the loose change into her hand he let his fingers linger on the warm flesh.

“You shouldn’t be short any now. I’ll shout ya.” Fringe covering his eyes he reluctantly removed his hand from hers and briskly walked away.

‘What the hell was that?’ Were the thoughts of not only Kenya but Niou who stood not to far away in his hiding spot.

Kenya looked down at his sister again as he put his arm around her shoulder and they walked back to their group. Yuushi looked up at his two cousins and frowned at . “Ar~n…Who…”

Before he could make a fool out of himself Yuushi cut him off. “When did you get here Kenya?” still keeping her eyes on the soda can in her hands, one would think it was the most interesting thing in the world the way she stared at it.

“Only a minute ago.” Kenya looked around and his eyes caught the black haired boy. “Ne Yuushi, who is that?” He pointed to Kirihara. Yuushi noted the slightly angry look in his male cousin’s eyes.

“That’s some of Rikkai Dai regulars.” Kenya growled lightly at his cousins antics he knew what he wanted and was being smart assed about it.

Yuushi laughed making look up. “Ne, Kenya is here!”

The boys eyed her oddly. Realizing she had probably said something that was completely obvious she blushed lightly.

“Oh!” She walked up to Yuushi letting her brother’s arm leave her shoulders. “Can I borrow a few coins? I was short at the machine and someone shouted me. I want to pay them back.” Yuushi nodded and without hesitation gave her what she asked for but as fast as the coins hit her palm they were removed by her brother.

“I’ll give it to him.” She stared wide eyed at her brother before nodding and sitting down next to Ootori on the bench.

Kenya stood in front of Kirihara with a slight glare. Holding out the two coins he waited for the younger boy to take them.

“Hey, he said he’d shout her. There’s no need to pay it back.” He looked up a Niou who sat two rows above Kirihara in the bleachers.

“Oshitari’s don’t like owing anyone…anything.” He turned his imitating eyes back to Kirihara. glanced sideways, nervously, biting her lip. Kirihara reached up and took the two coins returning the glare in full. Kenya went to walk away.

“Ne, cute little thing you have over there…” Glaring holes into the silver haired boy Kenya took a step back. “I bet you have a lot of trouble keeping bad boys away from that precious little angel.” stood up seeing the anger wash over her brother’s face.

Without much thought she again put on her best smile and sweetest voice. “Niisan! Aren’t you going to play for me? You came all the way here it would be a waste if you didn’t play a game!” Kenya’s anger disappeared completely as he turned to his little sister and smiled.

Niou looked at the girl in surprise. Was she trying to save him and Kirihara?

“C’mon niisan, we don’t have all day to wait for your lazy butt.” She flashed him a smile. Kenya looked up at Niou and took the opportunity to set her eyes onto Kirihara.

“That will never be any of your concern.” He turned and walked towards his sister who clapped in delight when she realized her plan had worked.

After a few more games the group of boys and left to have dinner at the Oshitari’s. At dinner they all talked about upcoming tennis tournaments and Kenya brought Yuushi up-to-date on family and other things. Yuushi glanced at his again unusually quiet cousin but turned his attention back to the others. He’d have to talk to her later in private.

played with her food as her mind went over today’s events. ‘He remembers me.’ She smiled slightly at her mashed potatoes. Giggling in her mind she bit her lip, suppressing her smile from reaching her eyes. ‘He’s even cuter then before.’

“Ne, . Are you done we are going to the lounge.” She nodded wiped her mouth and stood smiling.

“Okay.”

Kenya eyed his sister wryly but nodded and the two walked into the other room. Taking a pillow and putting it in her brother lap she laid her head on it and curled her legs up on the couch.

Atobe raised an eyebrow at the scene before turning to Yuushi who only smirked. Neither of them would ever understand a brother-sister relationship, both Yuushi and Atobe were only children. However, Kenya and had a close older brother-younger sister bond. Since their parents were usually busy, even when they were younger, Kenya took care of . When she had nightmares or when she was bullied, he was there to rock her back to sleep or knock those bullies silly.

It wasn’t until got a little older that she was able to also take care of her older brother. He might be overprotective of her but he had a right to be and no one could tell him otherwise.

It was Christmas Eve. Yuushi and Kenya stopped their debate to look up at the girl who stood a few feet from them.

“I’m going out for a little.” Both boys stood and she quickly shook her head. “Alone. I have my cell phone and money.” She pulled her jacket on and began buttoning the buttons. “I will be back in about an hour. Do you need anything?” The two boys looked at each other and then back at her.

“Do you think that’s such a good idea, -chan?” frowned at her cousin.

“It’s still daylight out and I’m not a baby. I will be back when I’m back. Call me if you need me.” She walked out of the room leaving the slightly nervous boys to themselves.

had Yuushi’s driver drop her off at a small café before telling him she’d called Yuushi if she needed a ride home. ‘Where do I start?’ She sat at the small table sipping on her tea thinking. Nodding her head she got up and paid for her tea pulling her coat back on. She had one place she could look.

Walking through one of the many doors she looked around. Not only was the sports center open but there were a decent amount of people in it. She bit her lip. ‘I guess not everyone thinks Christmas is really that great.’ She pulled the small green and red wrapped box from her bag and frowned. ‘What if he thinks its lame?’ She sighed and put it back in her bag.

She had already decided to give it to him no matter what, now she only needed to find him. She continued to walk around the center looking, hoping, but it seemed luck was not on her side. She sighed again and plopped herself down on the bleachers by the indoor tennis courts.

leaned back on the bleacher and took a deep breath. Her eyes caught a few boys a few feet from her.

“I think everyone’s menus are fine. They should be good for the up coming tournament.”

She wasn’t trying to listen to their conversation they were just talking loud enough for it to float in her ears.

“Renji maybe you can recalculate Marui and make sure it’s all okay?”

“Ah, I’ll do Kirihara too, his stats have changed slightly.” turned to the boys.

‘Kirihara…that’s Akaya surname.’ She bit her lip and stood nervously.

“Anou…” Three pairs of eyes turned to her and she froze. “I…um…you…” She gulped and shook her head. “Never mind…”

She turned and heard one of the chuckle, and then another decided to call her before she walked away. “Oshitari-san?”

She turned and tilted her head, not use to being called that she laughed.

…” She whispered back. The boy nodded.

“Renji, you know this girl?” A red head popped his gum staring at her.

“More like I know of her. She’s Oshitari Yuushi from Hyotei’s cousin and Oshitari Kenya from Shitenhouji’s younger sister.”

The red head seemed to have remembered something. “That one Niou was talking about?”

Renji nodded turning back to the girl whose eyes never left Sanada’s and seemed scared out of her wits.

-san…” She stiffened and backed away from the scary boy. Renji stood and finally her eyes turned to him. “Is there something I can help you with?”

She nodded. “I think…” He waited for her to continue. “You know Akaya right?” Both Marui and Sanada’s eyes widened slightly.

“You’re looking for Kirihara? The demon himself…” looked at Marui confused.

“Demon?”

Renji shook his head. “Yes, -san we do know Akaya he is our teammate. Do you need something from him?”

Marui’s mouth fell open as the cute innocent girl began to blush madly.

Renji didn’t wait for an answer. “Well, -san I was just heading to Kirihara’s. It’s not far from here would you like me to show you.”

Marui looked at him as if he were mad. “Should you really take her there Renji? I mean Kirihara he…” Before he could finish Sanada sent him a look telling him to shut up.

“Aa, I don’t think he would like that.” looked down fidgeting with her fingers. Even Sanada couldn’t help but notice how adorable this girl was.

“I’m sure he wouldn’t mind.” bit her lip and nodded. Putting on his coat Renji escorted the girl from the building, making their way to the Kirihara residents.

“Aren’t you worried Kirihara will scare her or something?” Sanada shrugged his shoulders and continued what he was doing. He knew Renji wasn’t stupid.

sighed again. “So how do you know our Kirihara?” looked up at the boy, cheeks still tinted pink but she hoped he thought it was because of the cold weather.

“Aa, we met on vacation. We didn’t know each other long.” The boy seemed to be studying her and it made her more nervous.

“Ah, it just that house there.” He pointed a house about five houses away.

gulped and stopped two houses away. “Well…umm…Yanagi-san are you sure it okay? Showing a stranger to your teammate’s house?”

Renji tapped her on the shoulder. “I’m sure you aren’t strangers, you did call him Akaya earlier.” Smiling at her he continued walking as the flush on her face grew darker.

Standing in front of the door began to panic even more. ‘What if he really didn’t want to see me?’ Renji knocked on the door. ‘What I going to do if he turns away from me again?’ “I don’t think this is a good…”

The door swung open to reveal a shirtless boy. “Senpai what do you…?” Kirihara’s eyes landed on the girl slightly behind his senpai. Renji smiled as he looked between the two. Kirihara staring right at the girl and with her head down, glancing up through her hair.

“Oh, I forgot what I was coming here for.” Pushing the girl towards the door. “Make sure -san gets home alright Kirihara.” Before either could say anything Renji was sprinting down the street.

“Sorry…” whispered, realizing how horrible this setup looked.

Kirihara’s stare turned from surprise to longing. Looking over the girl he hadn’t stopped thinking about, he noticed her slight red face and trembling fingers. Realizing that it was rather cold out he quickly cleared his throat, praying his voice didn’t fail him. “Come on in. It’s freezing out there. I’ll get you something warm to drink.”

He turned leaving the door open for her. She took a deep breath as she stepped into his house, closing the door behind her. ‘This was good…he didn’t seem very mad that his teammate had basically left me on his doorstep.’

“You can come in past the door way. The living rooms the first door on the left. Is hot chocolate alright?”

slipped off her shoes and hung her coat on the hanger by the door. “That’s fine…” She quietly made her way to the living room and sat on the couch. Lightly hugging a pillow she wondered what she was going to say when he came in.

Kirihara put a shirt on and leaned against the counter as he was preparing the hot chocolate. ‘Why was she here? Why was she with Yanagi-senpai? Did she know him too?’ He shook his head. ‘None of that mattered, she’s really here.’ A silly grin appeared on his lips until the kettle whistled signaling the hot water was ready. He poured it into two cups and continued to think. ‘What am I going to say when I walk in there?’ He picked up the two cups and took a deep breath stepping out of the kitchen towards the living room.

He lightly pushed the door open with his foot and he saw her. She was hugging a pillow tightly, biting her lip, and she looked like she was debating something serious in her mind. He smiled at the sight and sighed.

turned to the boy who just entered the room. “Aa…” She put the pillow back where it was and sat up straighter. He handed her the mug and took a seat on the other couch. He watched as she blew on the hot liquid before taking a small sip.

Leaning back he looked her over. “If you’re still cold you can use the blanket on the back of the couch.”

looked up at him and seemed to be searching for something. “I met some of your teammates at the sports place today.” She set her cup down on the coffee table. “Why do they call you a demon?” Kirihara stiffened as those gentle eyes bore into his soul but he had no chance to answer. “Is…is…” She looked down suddenly very interested in her finger nails. “Is it the same reason you were odd the other day?”

Kirihara let out a dry chuckle that made nervous. How did he think that he could be with her and have her not find out about the uncontrollable side of him?

“Is that why you didn’t want to keep in contact with me?” His head shot up, it was true he had told her he thought it was better if they didn’t exchange numbers or anything. He didn’t want her to know.

Looking over her face he noticed small tears falling from her eyes. Panicking he did the only thing he could think of. Quickly placing his mug on the table he sat next to her and pulled her into his lap. Stroking her hair gently he couldn’t help but smile to himself. Not because she was crying but because he thought he would never feel this girl in his arms again. He never thought he’d be able to see her again and here she was.

“I’m sorry…” He muttered burying his face in her hair. How he missed her smell.

“I wouldn’t have cared.” whispered into his shirt. “As long as you were the Akaya I knew when you were with me…I wouldn’t have cared.”

He chuckled lightly as he leaned back on the couch holding her close. He was so stupid.

She sat up and glared lightly at him. “What’s so funny?” He smiled that smile that only she saw again and wiped her teary cheek.

“I’m an idiot…”

She pouted and took his hand playing with his fingers lightly. “I knew that already.” He chuckled again brushing her hair out of her face with his free hand.

“How did you manage to get even more beautiful?” She blushed before smacking his chest lightly but before she could pull her hand away he pulled her closer. Once again he felt her breath on his lips as he stared in her eyes. Smirking he inched closer, putting his arms around her perfect waist.

[Ring Ring]

He dropped his head to her shoulder. Life was cruel and whatever God there was, was doing anything to stop him from feeling those soft lips again.

“Sorry.” She muttered digging through her bag placing things on the coffee table till she found her phone. “Ah, hello?” She sighed and stood. “Niisan…I’m fine.” She threw Kirihara an apologetic look before stepping out of the room. Kirihara groaned and threw his head back. “Damn brother.” His eye caught on something on the table. ‘Wonder who she bought it for.’ He leaned up and poked the small red and green wrapped box. He looked at the door was just outside of, deeming her still busy he picked up the small box and shook it lightly.

·········

“Where are you?” Kenya said rubbing his temple.

groaned in her mind. “I’m out, Niisan.”

“Where?” He demanded.

“Niisan, I’ll be home soon. I just…” She wondered what she was going to say. She had never lied to her brother and she didn’t have the heart to start now.

…” She bit her lip. “…be safe okay. Call if you need anything. I’ll be there for you in a second.”

She smiled to herself and giggled slightly. “Yes, niisan. I’ll be home soon. Love you.”

Kenya rubbed his hand through his hair and sighed. “You too.” They hung up and he turned to his cousin. “This Kirihara·I’ll kill him if he hurts her.”

Yuushi just smirked. “I think he’d have to fear all of Shitenhouji and probably some of Hyotei if he hurt her Kenya.”

Kenya fell back on the chair, grumbling. “Yeah but I get to kill him first…”

·········

poked her head back into the room. “What are you doing?” She raised an eyebrow at the boy who seemed to be trying to figure out how to open the box without her knowing.

Kirihara blushed and put the box back on the table. “Nothing…” He mumbled. She laughed and he sighed. How he missed that laugh. “Who’s that for?” He pointed to the box as she walked over and took a seat beside him.

“This?” She picked up the box and showed him it. He nodded and she looked at the box smiling happily. “It’s a Christmas present for a boy…”

Kirihara stiffened and looked away. So she did have someone already. held in a giggle and continued.

“He’s an idiot sometimes and apparently many people find him scary…” She glanced over as the boy seemed to understand her hints. “…but I don’t know if he’ll want it. It was kind of a stupid idea.” She placed it in her lap and sighed. Smirking he took it from her hands.

“Well let’s see what it is. I’ll tell you if he’ll like it or not.” She blushed nervously as he began to open it. After throwing the paper to the side he opened the small box and tilted his head.

Looking up face at her he noticed her blushing madly, traveling down he noticed something missing. “You would give him your angel?”

She looked anywhere but in his eyes, knowing there was a smirk on his face. “He said I didn’t need to wear it. Plus lately I’ve been hearing he’s got some demon in him, maybe he needs an angel to keep him safe when I can’t be around.” She whispered playing with the hem of her shirt. “I mean I wouldn’t expect him to wear it. I know it’s girlie but…” Before she could finish she felt something soft on her lips.

Breathing deeply through her nose she pushed back against his lips. Wrapping his free hand around her neck he pulled her closer deepening the kiss. Smiling she opened her mouth allowing his soft tongue run across her lip and tongue.

Pulling away he held up the necklace smiling at her. “I think he’d like it.”

She laid her head on his shoulder. “You think.” He nodded.

“Yep…and your right an angel really doesn’t have a need to wear another around her neck.” Pulling her close he put the necklace on. “Hmm, kind of girlie.”

She laughed and smacked his chest. “Mou don’t be mean…”

He lifted her head and kissed her nose as she crinkled it. “But I didn’t get you anything…”

She shook her head. “Let’s just say you owe me…”

“I thought Oshitari’s don’t like owing anyone anything.” She chuckled kissing his cheek.

“You don’t want to be just anyone, do you?” Not satisfied with that kiss he took her lips again.

An angel loving a demon...such things are forbidden,
But for a demon to love...that is unheard of...
