She sighed as she watched him, Fuji Syuusuke, tensai of Seigaku play a match with one of the other regulars. She loved to watch him play tennis, the sport he loved so much. She was at the chorus room’s window watching, which has prefect view of the tennis courts. She was , a 3rd year here at Seigaku and in the same class as Fuji and Kikumaru Eiji. She was part of the school choir and one of the more skilled members. Some of the other members of the choir and even the sensei knew that she liked watching Fuji. They let her do it when Fuji is playing because is a nice girl and so very kind hearted. saw Fuji win his match. He was always so graceful when he moved. Another sigh escaped her lips before going back to sing.
Meanwhile down on the tennis courts, Inui and Fuji were talking.
“Fuji when are you going to tell her that you know that she watches you,” asked Inui, the data man of Seigaku, pushing up his glasses.
“Saa, I don’t know,” said Fuji, with smile.
“You should stop her, before she gets hurt more than she is bound too,” said
Inui.
“I know,” smiled Fuji.
It was lunch the next day at school where and her best friend sat under one of the trees eating. They were talking when Fuji along with Eiji passed by. ’s eyes followed Fuji.
“Ne, you should tell him that you are in love with him,” teased .
“That’s not funny ,” said . “You know how many love confessions he gets a day, about 3. I’m surprised he is not annoyed with them by now. Plus you know how shy I am when I try to talk to someone new.”
“Technically he is not new to you,” said . “You have been in his class every year of middle school.”
“, he doesn’t even know I exist,” said . “What am I going to say to him? ‘Oh hi I’m a girl in your class and I’ve been watching you play tennis since 1st year. Oh, by the way I have fallen madly in love with you.’”
“That could work,” laughed .
“, that’s not cool,” said , pouting
“Relax,” said . “You know I’m just pulling your leg. I know how you feel
sometimes.”
“But there is a difference! You did tell Eiji you love him but he turned you down,” said .
“Yeah I know, but things for us will work out,” said . “Plus even if Eiji does not return my feelings he at least greets me in the morning. That’s all I can ask.”
“I know,” said , sighing. Little did they know that Eiji and Fuji were in ear shot; Fuji was just smiling at Eiji.
“Did you really turn her down Eiji,” asked Fuji.
“Nya, that’s not your business Fuji,” said Eiji, defensively. “What are you going to do about -san?”
“Saa, that’s not your business Eiji,” said Fuji, with a smile.
“I guess I deserved that,” said Eiji, with a pout. It would be the next day after the after school activities were over; Fuji decided it would be a good time to approach . She was standing at the gate of the school, tying her shoe.
“Saa, would you like to walk to the bus stop with me,” asked Fuji, smiling at the girl.
“Eh? Uh, n-no thanks,” muttered , seeing who was talking to her while blushing a very dark shade of red.
“Are you sure,” asked Fuji. He didn’t get an answer because was running up the street already. Fuji smiled. Well that was a failure. Fuji told Eiji what happened the next day before class. Eiji just laughed.
“You scared her away,” said Eiji, shaking his head with laughter.
“Don’t worry I have an idea,” said Fuji, smiling. Thus at lunch that day Fuji
decided to talk to her in front of ’s best friend. Surely she would not
run then. “Good afternoon girls.”
“Hello Fuji-kun,” greeted , nudging to say something other blushing like a tomato.
“Uh, g-good a-afternoon,” mumbled . “Ne, I have to go get a book
from a library.” With that she ran off, leaving a confused Fuji and just
shaking her head.
“Sorry about her,” said . “She can be really shy sometimes. I better go
too.”
“Got ditched again,” said Tezuka.
“It seems so,” said Fuji.
“Maybe you could go about talking to her differently,” said Tezuka.
“I’ll try that,” said Fuji, smiling. With at the library who is hyperventilating, just patted on the head.
“Breathe ,” said .
“He’s actually talking to me, I can’t do this,” whined .
“,” said , “next time don’t run away.”
“But I can’t help it,” said , beginning to bang her head with a book. had to struggle to get the book away from her. “Uh, this bites…”
“Don’t do that,” said . Later after school, was walking out of the grounds of the school when somebody grabbed her hand. She turned to find Fuji smiling at her. She knew it would useless to get out of his grasp because of his strong grip. So she wound up walking with him to the bus stop.
“Saa, now you won’t run away again if I let you go,” asked Fuji. knew it was inevitable.
“N-no, I’ll stay,” she said. She felt him let go of her hand.
“Now, I know you have been watching me for what three years now,” stated Fuji.
“Er, you noticed,” said , sighing. Then she began mumbling to herself. “I should have realized that he noticed, idiot.”
“You are not an idiot,” said Fuji. “I just wanted to know why you were watching
me this long and you never tried to talk to me.”
“There are a lot of girls that like you,” said . “And I did not want to be a bother, plus I-I can’t talk to people too well and doesn’t count since I known her a while.”
“But you are talking to me now,” said Fuji.
“I figure it would be no use to keep running away because you’ll eventually
catch me,” said .
“Ah I see,” said Fuji, smiling.
“I love you,” said .
“I know, thank you,” said Fuji, patting her on the head in a friendly gesture. “Does it not feel better to get off your chest?”
“I guess I do feel better,” said . ‘Then I guess it would not hurt if I…’ then pressed her lips lightly on his just as her bus was pulling up. By the time Fuji gained his senses back she was on the bus that was on its way. Seriously, Fuji would be thinking long and hard about what just happened. When got home she called .
“You confessed and kissed him! Even I didn’t have enough courage to do that to Eiji,” said , on the phone, excitedly.
“I don’t know why but I suppose it made me feel better,” said .
“So you are not going to watch him anymore?”
“I don’t think so,” said . “Now that I told him and stole a kiss if you say, I think it would be awkward to keep watching him since he knows where I watch him. Not like he’ll notice or care.” Then next day felt better and spent the whole day smiling. And during choir practice she surprised them all by not staring longingly at the window and she sang with much vigor. This went on for a week. But she was wrong in how she said that Fuji would not notice or care. In fact it was quite the opposite. Even Ryoma noticed that something was wrong with the tensai.
“Fuji what exactly happened between you and -san,” asked Eiji.
“Not now Eiji,” said Fuji.
“I have noticed that she has not been watching at the choir window for the past week,” said Inui. “Did she confess her feelings to you?” Fuji was just ignoring him.
“She kissed you didn’t she,” asked Ryoma, but it was more of a statement and not a question. “You sort of are acting the way when my oyaji gets kissed by my Kaa-chan, but you don’t have a perverted look on your face.”
“Nya seriously,” exclaimed Eiji.
“What’s going on over here,” asked Tezuka. “Its practice not gossip time, 50
laps for all of you, except Fuji I want to talk to him.”
“Yes Tezuka,” asked Fuji, smiling.
“Do something about this,” said Tezuka, ordering him. And Fuji knew what he was talking about.
“Yes,” said Fuji. Later as was walking to the bus stop humming to
herself, Fuji caught up to her. “Hello.”
“Oh hi Fuji-kun,” said . “What can I do for you?” It just seemed easier now to talk to him because he knew how she felt and did not judge her for it.
“Why did you kiss me,” asked Fuji.
“I don’t really know myself,” said , shrugging. “I just did it on
instinct.”
“I see,” said Fuji, smiling. “Then may I ask you a question.”
“Sure,” said .
“Do you still have feelings
for me,” asked Fuji.
“Fuji-kun my feelings will not disappear in a just week you know,” stated
. “Why don’t tell me you suddenly think you have feelings for me?”
“Maybe I do,” said Fuji.
“Y-You are t-teasing me,” said , beginning to blush and stutter again.
“I’m not,” said Fuji, “This past week I missed your watchful eyes watching me, I really thought you did not care anymore. So don’t be afraid…”
“What are you—” Then he kissed her like she kissed him that week ago, which made
her blush beet red.
“Saa, why don’t I walk you to the bus stop,” asked Fuji, like nothing happened this time. He grabbed her hand and she began walking along beside him. “I don’t know if I love you completely yet but I think I’m getting there.”
“I believe that I’m inclined to believe you when you say that,” said , intertwining their fingers together. ‘I will wait for the day that you say you love me back, Fuji Syuusuke.’
