The Great Challenge

On a private jet headed towards Tokyo, Japan is a fifteen year old girl. However, she is not just any old fifteen year old girl, she is . She is the most powerful female under eighteen in the world. She is the CEO of her family’s company and her father is president. is also the most eligible bachelorette in Japan. She has not been in Japan the last few years for she has been traveling through Europe and America on business. She had personal tutors throughout her life but now her father wishes her to go to a normal Japanese school and learn to ‘play nice’ with people her own age. The school she is headed to is none other than the Hyoutei. But currently she is reading a book on her private jet.

-sama you are looking pale. Do you have another stomachache or headache,” asked one of the servers.

“Yes, but I’ll be fine,” said . Luckily, the information that suffers from chronic headaches and stomachaches is unknown to the public.

“Did you hear the news Atobe,” asked Oshitari to his friend and former captain. They are walking to the main entrance of Hyoutei’s high school.

“Ore-sama wishes to know what news you are talking about Oshitari,” said Atobe.

“I figured you would be the first to know. is coming to our school,” said Oshitari. Atobe frowned.

“And why would Ore-sama care if that girl comes to Ore-sama’s school,” asked Atobe.

“She just isn’t that girl, Atobe,” said Shishido, walking over to him. “She’s the , an inspiration to every female out there. At least that’s what my mother says.” Atobe snorted.

“She’s just like Ore-sama you know,” said Atobe.

“Who the hell thinks I’m like you Atobe-san,” asked the very girl they were talking about. “Do you mean to say that I’m an egotistical, spoiled rotten brat just like you? I would certainly hope not.”

“You should stop running your mouth,” said Atobe, glaring at the girl.

“I can do what I please,” said , glaring back. Oshitari and Shishido decided it will be best to drag Atobe to his class before the two started up again.

“I didn’t know you did not get along,” said Oshitari.

“Actually that was the first time Ore-sama met her,” said Atobe, stalking off to his classroom. Oshitari and Shishido exchanged looks as walked by them into the same classroom as Atobe.

“I think this is potentially dangerous,” said Shishido.

“I think things are going to be interesting with around to challenge Atobe,” said Oshitari. “Come now, Shishido, time for class.” Meanwhile inside the classroom of Atobe and , the sensei just placed the two rich children right next to each other. The sensei just ignored the killer intent of Atobe and , began the lesson, the other students began to worry for their safety.

Over the next two months Atobe and fought to be at the top of everything. and Atobe constantly fought over who was the first in class since they were tied for first. Atobe tried to crack with insults and tried to embarrass Atobe by tripping him. By this time, everyone—students, sensei, and the rest of the faculty—began taking bets who would become the number one in the school. Normally lunchtime in May is pleasant, but as Atobe and argued over the latest test scores their fellow students were getting annoyed. Finally, just scowled and stormed off.

“You know Atobe, I think you should be nicer to her,” said Oshitari, as Atobe sat down next to Shishido, Oshitari, and Jiroh, who is always sleeping.

“Why? Ore-sama will make sure that she knows who the best is. Ore-sama will have her awed by Ore-sama’s prowess soon,” said Atobe. “Did you not see earlier that she gave up?” His three friends sighed. Later that afternoon Atobe found himself in a meeting with his father.

“I see you and -chan are not getting along,” said his father.

“Ore-sama cannot stand that girl,” said Atobe. His father twitched at the use of Ore-sama.

“Keigo, -chan is nicer than you think. I knew her since she was born. It would not hurt you to have her as a friend. After all, she knows more about business than you do,” said his father.

“Ore-sama will not,” said Atobe. He walked out of his father’s office. His father shrugged, teenagers are complicated after all. Atobe is royally annoyed by now; this girl is driving him mad. Luckily tomorrow is the first practice match of the tennis season Hyoutei verse Seigaku. The following day at the courts Atobe went against Tezuka again.

-san I didn’t expect to see you here,” said Oshitari to , who decided to come.

“Yes well I wanted to see how good he is,” said . Oshitari smiled and said nothing in return. After the match went up to Atobe. “Surprised to see me Atobe-san?”

“What are you doing here,” asked Atobe.

“What? I can’t support my school at sports’ events,” said . “Plus these courts are owned by me and my father’s company.”

“You mean your father’s company,” said Atobe.

“That company is mine as well,” said , glaring at him. “After all I own forty-nine percent, my father owns forty-nine percent, and one percent to stock holders.” Atobe glared back at her.

“You are such a show off.”

“Oh like you aren’t?”

“You frustrate Ore-sama.”

“Likewise, Drama Queen,” said , smirking as she got the last word in. She walked away. Let’s just say Seigaku students’ never seen Atobe so angry before. That week at school, Atobe was surprised to see not in class for a few days. When she did come on Friday, she said nothing to him.

“Looks like you’re worried,” said Oshitari, as he watched Atobe watched walk off into the crowd. “After all you did not get to argue with her this week.”

“Shut up,” said Atobe. He decided to go and see what her problem is and he finds her sleeping sitting against one of the trees scattered around Hyoutei’s grounds. He could not help but notice a certain calm beauty about her now.

“It’s not nice to stare at someone trying to sleep, Atobe-san,” said . “I don’t feel like arguing with you today so just go away.” Atobe is not one to ignore the request of a lady wanting to be left alone, so he left. And the next time they had class, Atobe finally beat . He became first in class with one point behind in second. But she was not there for him to shove his superior intellect in her face. So, of course, he headed to the ’s family’s office building to find .

-sama wishes not to be disturbed,” said the secretary. “She’s in an important meeting right now.”

“Ore-sama is more important than anything else,” said Atobe. The secretary just looked at him like she could not believe what was coming out of his mouth. “Tell her Atobe Keigo is here.” The lady just shrugged and called her boss.

“Uh huh I’ll tell her,” said the secretary, hanging up. “She says ‘go play in traffic.’” Atobe twitched. He sat down. will not ignore him. He is Atobe Keigo after all. A few minutes later, came out of the elevator with another girl, the same age as them.

“Thanks cousin for the advice,” said the girl, in Kansai dialect.

“Hiroko, you can count on me. Good luck with the Shiraishi problem,” said . The girl, Hiroko and grinned at each other. Atobe watched this and realized that looked better when she grinned. Hiroko left when turned to Atobe and glared at him.

“I thought I told you to go and play in traffic,” said , blankly.

“Ore-sama is the first in class you know,” said Atobe. “I beat you.”

“So you did,” said , frowning. “Oshitari called me about it. Now, go away.”

“Ore-sama thinks that you are more beautiful if you smile,” said Atobe. looked away.

‘What is this egotistical boy talking about? First he wants to show me up and now he’s telling me that he would prefer if I smile.’

“I said go away. Plus I let you beat me. I’m going out of the country on business anyway,” said .

“You let Ore-sama win, preposterous,” said Atobe. “And what do you mean you are leaving already?”

“My father sees that I can’t play nice with people my own age,” snorted . “And yes I let you win for I am smarter than you.”

“You are not,” said Atobe.

“Yes I am,” said , smirking. “And you know it.”

“Don’t mock me,” said Atobe, glaring at her.

“I told you I do as I please,” said .

“Except if your father tells you to do something,” said Atobe. “Daddys girl.”

“Mama’s boy,” said .

“Ore-sama is not a mama’s boy,” said Atobe.

“Sure and I’m in love with you,” said , sarcastically.

“Is that so,” asked Atobe, ignoring the sarcasm.

“I was being…” Then he began getting closer to her, smirking. He leaned down.

“I still beat you,” whispered Atobe, still smirking. He then kissed her on the cheek. Her face got red from a mixture of embarrassment and frustration. The King of Hyoutei exited the building. turned to her secretary who was watching the whole time.

“Did you see anything, Tanya-san,” asked , miffed not at her but at Atobe.

“Not a thing, -sama,” said Tanya, trying not to smile amused.

“Good,” said , storming over to the elevator and pressing the button to go up. Meanwhile Atobe just so happened to meet up with Oshitari outside the building.

“What did you to ,” asked Oshitari.

“Ore-sama defeated her and that’s that,” said Atobe. “Thank God, Ore-sama will never have to speak to her again.” Of course this statement is indeed false. Atobe and will have to speak at parties as a formality.

“I see,” said Oshitari. “Pity you didn’t go for the lips of the most wanted girl in Japan.” Atobe glared at him.

“You were spying on Ore-sama.”

“I have nothing better to do,” said Oshitari, as if stating the obvious. He already phoned all the other tensai at their rival schools. Anyway, a few weeks later was in Germany at a business convention hosted by her company’s German branch. was making small talk with the old businessmen that were there.

‘God these people are always dreadfully boring, and I’m the only female here. Please someone I know show up!’ had a fake smile plastered on her face to be polite and agreed with what they said. Luckily everyone spoke the same language—English which was fluent in.

“Ah, -chan,” said someone with a thick, Japanese accent.

“Atobe-sama, what a pleasant surprise,” said , thankful that her father’s old friend was here.

“You seem almost out of place here,” said Atobe’s father. “Luckily, I brought my son.” Atobe Keigo stood there smirking in all his glory.

“Atobe-san,” said , politely. Atobe’s father smiled and disappeared as if he saw someone he knew there. “I figure you would be in school.”

“We have a few days off,” said Atobe. “And Ore-sama would just like to tell you that Ore-sama does work for everything Ore-sama has.”

“Yeah, I know,” said . “Being born rich isn’t always easy especially if you are the only child like we are. But I still don’t like you.”

“Hah, of course you don’t,” said Atobe. “You are in the stage of denial that you are in love with Ore-sama.”

“What are you talking about, pretty boy,” snapped , angrily and twitching.

“Ore-sama sees that you are most adamant to keep denying your feelings towards Ore-sama,” said Atobe. hissed at him, and then blinked.

“You’re kidding with me aren’t you,” said , getting flustered.

“Ore-sama knew you have a poor sense of humor,” said Atobe, laughing lightly. just glared at him. Meanwhile they did not hear the businessmen around them begin to take bets on whether or not Atobe and will wind up together. “So, does -chan wish to leave this drab place and wander around Berlin with Ore-sama?”

“Just this once,” said , indigently.

“Come, Milady,” said Atobe, holding out his arm for .

She took it, but threatened him with, “Call me that again and I’m going to hurt you in so many ways!”
