-chan! -chan!” The wild haired boy came running down the hallway of the dorms. “I need a favor…” He pouted. “Please…”

The girl smiled nervously. “Come in, Akutagawa.”

The boy beamed and walked inside. “Boo, -chan I told you its Jirou …Jir-ou…” He said as she closed the door.

Present Over Past

She looked over at the boy lying on her shoulder. ‘Why do I let him drag me into these things?’ She thought as she rubbed her fingers through his soft hair, causing him to purr and snuggle up closer too her. She looked out the window and gulped. “I hate flying…” She closed the blind on the window and held tighter onto the boys hand next to her. Closing her eyes she remembered how she was brought into this troublesome situation.

“What happened, Jirou?” The boy sat on the edge of his seat holding onto his cup of tea tightly.

“Well, I suppose I should start at the beginning or none of this will make sense.” He smiled sheepishly and continued. “In my last year of high school I confessed to my long time secret crush. Her name was Homura Renn and she was so pretty.” could see the sadness in his eyes as he went on. “She was always so sweet and kind to me. It always seemed like she liked me for me not because of all that tennis regular nonsense. I guess I was wrong.” He stopped and stared into his dark drink. got up, sat next to him placing her hand on his shoulder and smiling at him when he looked at her. “She turned me down but she also said that she only was being so nice to me to get closer to one of my teammates, Oshitari Yuushi.” He smiled bitterly and laid his head on ’s lap as she rubbed it gently.

“Well, she didn’t deserve you even as a friend Jirou. You are more then your tennis.” He smiled his normal happy smile and cuddled his head into her lap.

“I knew you’d say that -chan.” She laughed and sat back.

“So what’s the favor, love? You need me to hire a hit man?” Jirou laughed finally and sat up looking at her as if considering how to ask something.

“She’s getting married…to the teammate I was talking about…” frowned not seeing where this was all headed. “When Oshitari called to ask why I hadn’t replied to the invitation…I was so nervous and said that I had forgotten because I was so busy with my girlfriend…”

’s eyes went wide. She then sighed and rubbed her temples with her fingertips. “Akutagawa…You don’t have a girlfriend…” He smiled sheepishly.

“Hai, according to what I told Oshitari an hour ago I do. Her names .” He jumped off the couch and got on his knees holding his hands up begging her. “Please, -chan! It’s just for the engagement party and the wedding. It will only be two weeks! That’s all. I’ll pay for everything! The plane ride, the dresses, and anything else you want, please!” He looked up pleading with both his eyes and pouting lips. How was she suppose to resist that face.

“You owe me Jirou…” He jumped up smiling pouncing on her and thanking her in Spanish, English and Japanese.

She sighed once again, as she figured she couldn’t sleep on planes. How she wished to have the sleeping habits of her companion.

¯*_*¯*_*¯

Living in Spain since she was in high school Mai felt a little nervous going back to Japan, her homeland. Being half Spanish and half Japanese she rarely fit in when she was in junior high. Her dark hair was common but her tan skin tone and her dark eyes that seemed to sparkle set other girls off on jealous fits. Admittedly was no drop dead beauty nor did she have any special talents but ask anyone that met her and they’d tell you there was something about her. Something that drew people to her, maybe it was her welcoming smile that always graced her lips or her stern but sweet way of conducting her life. She was sweet and charismatic but she was no push over. No one in their college, even their seniors, tried to use or get one over on her. She was well respected and love by all that met her. Jirou was no exception, he clung to her like a lost child when he arrived in Spain and met her in his first class. That was over a year and a half ago, now whenever you saw you saw Jirou and vise versa. Neither seemed to mind much and both being from Japan at some point gave them even more things in common, they easily categorized each other as their most important friend/person and no one seemed to question their relationship.

“We will be arriving in the Tokyo airport in a matter of minutes. Please exit the plane carefully and thank you for riding with Tokyo Air.”

looked down and lightly shook the boy next to her. “Jirou, we’re about to land. Start waking up.” Jirou whined and pouted hugging onto her arm tighter. “Ne, Jirou…Pesto[1] is taking your food again…”

Jirou’s head popped up. “Pesto keep your paws off…” The occupants in the seats near them looked at the groggy young man oddly. held in her chuckles when Jirou turned and playfully glared at her. “That was mean…”

She waved her hand dismissing it. “I needed you up we’re about to land. I’m not dragging you off the plane to find your friend. I’ve hauled you home plenty of times when you passed out and you’re too heavy.”

Jirou pouted rubbing his belly lightly. “Now I’m hungry. Damn that Pesto!” smiled and patted the boys head as the plane began rolling down the runway to a stop.

¯*_*¯*_*¯

twirled her dark hair around her slim finger. Jirou had told her to stay right here and not to move as he got their bags, fearing she’d get lost not having been in Japan in so long.

“He thinks I’m an idiot…” muttered as she tapped her finger on her arm glancing around for the mop of hair. She noticed a sign a man in a black suit was holding.

[Akutagawa Jirou]

She smiled to herself. Jirou had planned on staying with his parents, him and sharing his old room, which neither had really minded. They had been in similar situations and it worked out quite alright. However, when Jirou’s friend, Atobe Keigo, had heard about the situation he insisted they say with him at his, as Jirou dubbed it, Big Ass Mansion. Therefore this Atobe was going to pick them up at the airport and take them to his house. picked up her small carryon and made her way to the man holding the sign.

Moments later Jirou bounced through the crowd looking a tad bit angry. “-chan, I told you to stay over there I was worried!” The man holding the sign took the bags from Jirou and told them to follow him.

“I’m not a baby, Jirou. I wont get lost. I promise.” She took his arm and walked towards the limo waiting for them. Leaning up on her toes she whispered in his ear. “Is this really necessary? We could have taken a cab.”

Jirou rubbed the back of his head and smiled sheepishly as the door was opened by the driver. “That’s just how Atobe operates. Better get use to it for now.” sighed.

“Ar~n, are you going to get in Jirou or would you like to stand there all afternoon?” peeked her head into the limo and saw a very handsome, cocky looking man sitting at the far end. She looked back at Jirou eyebrow raised and laughed lightly before climbing into the car with Jirou right behind her.

Atobe watched as this, rather exotic, looking female climbed into his car. She wasn’t like the typical girls he had been around since grade school. The way she carried herself, even as she sat in the car and how she held her head, she was a proud woman who, he thought, would speak her mind no matter who she was talking to. “So you must be , I’m sorry to say Jirou hasn’t mentioned you. Then again we haven’t talked for quite sometime.”

The woman looked over with eyes that could melt even the coldest man. “Hai, I am and it’s nothing to be sorry about. We aren’t two to spread our personal lives about. I asked him if it would be alright to keep a lower profile on our relationship.” took Jirou’s hand and squeezed it smiling gently towards him.

‘Oh she’s good at acting.’ Jirou thought.

“I see. Either way it’s a pleasure to meet you, I am Atobe Keigo and I will be glad to help you with anything in the next two weeks, just ask.” nodded laying her head on Jirou’s shoulder. The plane ride was taking its toll on her as she slipped into unconsciousness. Jirou smiled over at as she slept snuggled into his shoulder, putting his hand on her farthest leg and pulling her closer to offer her more warmth if needed. Turning his attention back to Atobe who was smirking at him.

“What?” Jirou said frowning slightly.

“Nothing. Just good to see you is all. You seem…” Atobe looked back to the girl cuddling to his old teammate. “…happy.”

Jirou nodded and looked out the window. “I am…” He whispered as Atobe nodded and silence fell over the car.

¯*_*¯*_*¯

stood outside of Atobe’s home. “How many people live here again?”

She turned to Atobe who smirked crossing his arms. “Just me…”

She sighed. This house, as he called it, was bigger then any ‘home’ she’d ever seen. She whined slightly, following Atobe and Jirou up the steps.

¯*_*¯*_*¯

“Too big…you could house an entire small country in this house.” Jirou chuckled and smiled back as looked around the huge sitting room they were now occupying. Jirou stepped out saying he’d be right back leaving with her new ‘friend’ Atobe.

“Jirou tells me you need to get a dress for both the party and the wedding?”

nodded sipping on her tea. “I don’t own many dresses that would be suitable for either occasion. Plus, what girl would turn down buying new clothes.” She smiled and glanced around again.

“Are you looking for something?” She looked back into the gray eyes that seemed to be smirking at her.

“No, but doesn’t it get lonely living in such a big house alone. I mean we are both sitting here, Jirou is only a room or two away, and I’ve never felt more alone.” Atobe watched as the girls eyes grew distant and alone.

“You get use to it…” He muttered but before could comment Jirou bounced back into the room.

“Ah, -chan we will go shopping tomorrow alright? It will be fun, I promise.” nodded and Atobe stood.

“You two should get changed. We’re expected to be at Oshitari’s for dinner in a few hours.”

Jirou stared wide eyed. “Dinn…dinner?”

Atobe looked at him raising an eyebrow at his facial expressions. “Yes, when I informed Yuushi of your arrival he set up a dinner with everyone so…” He looked at the girl debating what to call her.

’s fine Atobe-san.” He nodded.

“So everyone can get introduced to -san and she didn’t feel out of place during the party or wedding.” Jirou was about to protest when took his arm.

“Well, that was very thoughtful of you all. Thank you, we will go get ready. C’mon Jirou I don’t want to get lost in the never ending hallways of this place.” She laughed as Jirou and she left the room.

¯*_*¯*_*¯

“Sorry -chan.” Jirou said as looked through her suitcase, towel wrapped around her body.

“It’s fine Jirou. Now go shower. I’ll pick you out something to wear. Okay?” She walked over and placed a small kiss on his forehead as she began to dry her hair.

Atobe had told them it would be semi formal. As looked over herself in the mirror she leaned down and fixed her hair in a few places. “Ready?” She turned around to see Jirou and she smirked.

“Well don’t you look handsome?” She walked over and fixed his collar a little placing her hands on his shoulders. “Let’s have fun like we always do, ne?”

He nodded as she walked away to grab a jacket. Finally taking in her appearance Jirou was awe struck. was in a sleeveless, tight black corset like top the hugged her just right. With a black skirt that flowed to right above her knees. Clad in black strap heels, the light jewelry she wore on her wrist, neck and ears seemed to sparkle every time she turned. A sparkle that seemed the match the one in her eyes every time she smiled. “You look beautiful, …”

She turned to him, a bit taken back by the tone of his voice but smiled anyway. “Then we will make quite the couple wont we.” She took his arm as they made their way to the dreaded dinner.

¯*_*¯*_*¯

They arrived at their destination and were escorted to a sitting room full with around ten other people who were extremely excited to see Jirou and meet this mystery girl. A shy yet tall younger boy blush slightly when took his hand and shook it lightly.

“I can’t believe Jirou didn’t mention you, -san.” just smiled as the boy, Ootori Choutarou blushed more.

“I suppose he wanted to keep this beauty to himself.” turned towards the deep voice and caught the stare of a dark haired man in glasses.

‘What do we have here?’ She thought raising an eyebrow.

In a flash Jirou was by her side arm tightly around her waist. “, this is Oshitari Yuushi, our host for this evening and the proud groom to be.”

A smirk took over ’s lips as she nodded in understanding. ‘This is the boy that won over my cute little Jirou. Hm, I suppose if you like that dark mysterious type.’

The man name Yuushi walked towards her with a glint of something suspicious in his eyes. Taking her hand and kissing it lightly he smirked at her. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, -san. When Jirou told me he wanted to bring his girlfriend I was shocked to say the least.” He looked over at Jirou who shifted uncomfortably besides her. “Throughout school Jirou didn’t seem interested in girlfriends.” briefly wondered if this man knew about the horrible event that occurred to Jirou.

‘So he’s either clueless or a complete asshole.’ But she smirked nonetheless. “Well, isn’t that good news for me.” Oshitari cocked an eyebrow at her. “I should thank the girls that were silly enough to let my Jirou get away. Or else he wouldn’t be my Jirou right now.” smiled sweetly looking behind Oshitari to the person that just entered the room. A look of displeasure on the women’s rather plain face. “And is this the lovely bride? Congratulations, to the both of you.” looked at Jirou who was still in shock as to the way had handled Oshitari. “Jirou, aren’t you going to congratulate them.” whispered running her hand lovingly down his chest snapping him out of his stupor.

“Ah, Yes! Congratulations, Yuushi…Homura-san. This is , this is Homura Renn.” took her hand lightly, smiling.

“It’s a pleasure -san.” Renn said smiling back with an annoyed look in her eye.

is fine.” Letting go of the bride-to-be’s hand she turned back to Jirou smiling sweetly looking right in his eyes. ‘Are you alight?’ She asked without words he nodded and kissed her forehead, indicating everything was alright.

A man entered he room and walked over to Oshitari whispering something in his ear.

“Dinner is ready everyone. If you would please make your way to the dinning room.” Renn threw one more cold glance before exiting behind her fiancé. Dinner was peaceful, if you considered the words that were used. However, the cold glares from Renn towards were threatening and unpleasant. At least anyone that caught them thought, but seemed to be basking in the attention and smiling happily. Oshitari’s every once in a while glance at also said a thousand words.

‘This man’s getting married. That’s absurd. He hasn’t stopped checking me out since he arrived.’ thought as she side glanced at Jirou who wore a frown. She placed her hand on his on the table and smiled softly. “Are you feeling unwell Jirou?” She said quietly as he shook his head smiling at her. “Okay.” She whispered, he took her hand in his holding it lightly as she continued her conversation with Atobe who sat on the other side of her.

After dinner they had taken up another room where they lounged about drinking. and Jirou sat on a sofa chatting with two of Jirou’s old friends. watched as Jirou downed another drink and was waiting for the server to serve another. She sighed pulling her legs up beside her, wrapping her arms around his and laying her head on his shoulder. The two boys they were talking to got up and walked away.

“You’re drinking a lot, Akutagawa. I wont carry you home tonight.” Jirou put the glass down leaning against the back of the sofa. He knew when called him by his last name it was to get his attention and to tell him to listen to her. He put his hand over hers and laid his head on top of hers.

“Sorry…” He muttered as he kissed the top of her head and she nodded.

¯*_*¯*_*¯

“Well, look at that.” Shishido Ryou, another old teammate, said as he looked over at Jirou and . “They seem comfortable together. I thought you said he made her up, Oshitari.” Oshitari shrugged his shoulders. It was true Oshitari and Atobe had thought this ‘ ’ was some girl Jirou had made up to get out of coming to the wedding but to their surprise, there she was sitting right in front them.

“Maybe, she’s a friend?” Choutarou reasoned.

Oshitari shook his head. “Do your friends act that way?” Choutarou and Shishido both shook their heads as they turned back to the couple on the couch.

Atobe strode over to the trio smirking. “It seems Jirou got the better catch, doesn’t it Oshitari?” Sipping his drink Oshitari just looked on at the girl on the couch. “I mean we all knew he was head over heels in love with Renn. Yet you, who didn’t even know she existed, agreed to go out with her.” Atobes smirk grew as he saw the annoyed look in Oshitari’s eyes. “And even though he lost to you then. Seems he won in the end, is a very, very, interesting woman.” Atobe made his exit as Renn walked over.

“What are you boy’s chatting about?” Her smile was sweet but very fake.

“Oh, nothing Renn. We were just talking about Jirou‘s girlfriend, -chan.” Oshitari said stirring his drink as he watched the slight anger build up in his fiancée’s eyes.

“Hm, I hope she isn’t a bad influence on our Jirou.” The three boys looked at her.

‘Our?’ Was probably on each of their minds.

“She’s probably the reason Jirou-kun hasn’t been keeping in touch with me. We were the best of friends in school.” Renn said coldly as she was about to continue she was interrupted.

“Hey Oshitari, sorry. We’re going to head back to Atobe’s. We’re both tired, long plane ride and everything.” Jirou said as he held ’s hand.

Oshitari, who has had a little too much to drink, smirked and took ’s other hand. His lips lingering on her knuckles as looked in her eyes. “It was a great pleasure . Come visit anytime you wish.” ’s eyebrows frowned and she pulled her hand away quickly standing closer to Jirou, who unconsciously put his arm around her pulling her even closer.

“We’ll see you at the party…” Jirou said slightly glaring at Oshitari before he and quickly left the room.

“Shouldn’t have done that…” Shishido whispered to Choutarou who were walking away before they heard Renn’s annoyed voice.

“Yuushi, what was that! How could you flirt with someone right in front of me! She’s your friends girlfriend and I’m your fiancée.” Renn said slightly above a whisper. The few people still remaining pretended not to hear.

Oshitari merely rolled his eyes at the girl antics. He knew she wanted people to hear but he could play this game too. “You know the only reason we are getting married is because of the baby Renn…” She was about to throw a silent tantrum, but Oshitari cut her off. “And you have no right to talk about Jirou and his relationships. You were the one who used him and basically blackmailed me to be with you, look where that got us.” Oshitari took a bottle of liquor and left the room.

¯*_*¯*_*¯

…” Jirou turned over in the bed they shared. She hmm’ed an answer saying she was still awake. “Thank you…for everything…” He whispered as he put his arm around her and buried his head in the back of her neck. “You saved me…” He said even lower then before.

“Whatchu say Jirou?” said in a sleepy voice.

“Nothing.” He smiled and kissed the back of her neck. “Just get some sleep. Sweet dreams.” She nodded and put her hand on his, both falling into a deep sleep.

¯*_*¯*_*¯

stood shaking her head. This was no engagement party like Jirou had told her. She found out, the day she went shopping for her dress, from Atobe. Apparently the wedding is only for family and close friends but being in the rich business world, the Oshitari’s had decided to hold this ‘ball’ for all their business partners and such. If it wasn’t bad enough that was surrounded by rich, stuck up business men, it was that Oshitari had had one too many glasses of wine. Whenever Jirou left her, even if for a minute, Oshitari had taken that opportunity to hit on her or touch her in some way.

looked down at the wine red, slightly tight, dress she wore. ‘I can’t kick him in the nuts in this…’ She thought as he draped his arm around her neck once again and she shrugged it off once again. ‘Where is Jirou…’ thought excusing herself for some fresh air. She stepped out onto an open balcony resting her arms on the railing. She sighed, then she caught something out of the corner of her eye, two figures. She squinted her eyes trying to focus. She gasp and covered her mouth. It was Jirou and Renn. She watched as Renn reached out and rubbed her hand down his cheek.

placed her hand on her chest. ‘Why does it hurt? What’s he doing?’ She was so lost in thought she didn’t realize the other person that appeared beside her.

Oshitari looked over the girl too see his fiancée and Jirou standing in a secluded area of their yard. “Nice sight isn’t it?” whipped her head around and slightly glared at her company. “If it wasn’t for her being pregnant I wouldn’t be in this mess.” He muttered and took another gulp of his drink as processed what he was saying. He let out a dry laugh. “She’s a intolerable brat…” ’s eyes went wide. “She found something out in high school and used it against me.” Shaking his head he finished his drink and set it down on the railing.

Looking up at she took a step back not liking the look in his eyes. Her back hit the railing and he smirked putting an hand on either side of her, trapping her. Leaning down he whispered in her ear, as his eyes never left the two that stood not to far away. “She’s going to kiss him soon…” He felt stiffen. “I’m sure she regrets turning him down. I mean what girl wouldn’t. Who would want my fake bought love when she had something so pure as his real love…” Oshitari ran his slightly wet lips over her neck. “Why don’t we follow suit? I mean they are going to betray us, an eye for an eye, huh?” He leaned back looking at her face smirking. smiled sweetly and he closed his eyes, leaning in to kiss her.

¯*_*¯*_*¯

“Homura-san, what can I help you with?” Jirou said quietly as he followed Renn out the door to the back yard as she asked.

“Jirou, why do you call me that?” She turned putting on her best pouting eyes and smile. “I like it when you call me Renn…” She took his hand and held it in both of hers. “It’s been so long Jirou. I’ve missed you!” Jirou sighed. That was the Renn he knew in school. He took his other hand and tucked a stray hair behind her ears smiling slightly. “Ne, Jirou…I’ve always liked you even now when you’ve grown up…”

Jirou snapped out of his reverie and pulled both his hands away from her. Taken by surprise she glared at his silent refusal but she soon put on her fake smile. Walking towards him she ran her hand down his cheek. “Remember how we use to be, how we use to talk.”

He closed his eyes but for some odd reason the image wouldn’t come to his mind. All he could picture was . The time when they were studying in the park and she was twirling his hair around her finger. Or when she sat up with him for hours just so he could finish his report that was due in the morning and when she kept waking him up by blowing on his ear when he’d fall asleep. Then his mind went to the night they first got here, how comfortable she felt in his arms, how he felt he had never been happier, never felt more possessive then he had when Oshitari was hitting on her.

[SMACK]

He was brought out of his thoughts as he and Renn looked up to the balcony.

¯*_*¯*_*¯

[SMACK]

Oshitaris eyes opened wide as he held his already reddened cheek.

crossed her arms over her chest, “You, your wife and Jirou might think it’s okay to run around behind your partners back but I for one, I have more respect for myself then that.” flipped her hair slightly glancing back seeing the other two were watching and could hear her as well. “I didn’t come here to be your side toy nor did I come here to be made a fool of.” She started to walk away before turned towards Oshitari talking low enough so others couldn‘t hear. “And you think marrying her will prove you’re a good man. Taking responsibility for a child does not mean bringing it up in a unhappy, unpleasant marriage and house hold. I pity your unborn child, for he or she has to learn from such horrendously despicable parents.” turned, nearly walking into Atobe who stood in the doorway to the balcony. “Excuse me, Atobe-san.” He nodded, stepping a side as she walked past him and right for the door to leave.

Jirou turned to run after when he saw her leave the balcony but Renn grabbed his hand.

“Jirou, where are you going? You said you loved me!” He snatched his hand from her grasp.

“No the Renn I liked back then never existed. That was the past.” He turned and ran through the hall and out the front door but was no where in sight. He sighed and took a cab back to Atobe’s hoping she was there. He really needed to talk to her, to explain everything and tell her how he felt.

¯*_*¯*_*¯

Oshitari glared at the empty glass slightly rubbing his cheek.

“Well, that girl is bold.” He turned to see Atobe standing smug against the door frame.

“Che, she’s talking nonsense.” Atobe shook his head and Oshitari looked at him confused.

“She only said what none of us had the guts to say.” Oshitari stared eyes wide. “Of course being in our families is different then others but still what would bring more problems and shame to your family. A baby with a woman you aren’t married too but is out of the picture…” Atobe turned and set his eyes on Renn who was fuming in the middle of the ballroom franticly looking for someone. “Or being married to that and putting your son or daughter through the trouble of having her as a mother…” Renn’s eyes landed on Oshitari and she quickly turned her head away crossing her arms. Atobe just shrugged and walked away. “It’s your life Yuushi…”

¯*_*¯*_*¯

Atobe arrived home, many hours later, to find Jirou sitting on the steps. “You want to catch a cold?”

Jirou’s head shot up, eyes blood shot and clouded. “What?”

Atobe frowned. “What are you doing sitting on the steps? The guard would of let you in.”

Jirou shook his head leaning on his hands. “I can’t find her. She left but she didn’t come back here.” Atobe tilted his head. “What if she’s lost or hurt or something? I shouldn’t have left her alone.” Atobe pulled him up by his arm and pulled him into the house.

“You’re right, you shouldn’t have but you did there’s nothing you can do now.” He sat the boy down on the sofa and ordered a maid to get him something hot to drink. “Catching a cold wont make things any better.”

Jirou’s shoulders slumped. “I screwed up…really bad.” Atobe nodded in agreement but just as he was about to comment the door to his study opened.

“Ah…” They both looked up to see standing in the door way. Jirou jumped up but held up her hand silently telling him not to come any closer to her. “Atobe-san, I’m sorry to be of trouble but is there another room I could borrow for the remainder of the time here?” Atobe watched as Jirou visibly stiffened.

Atobe sighed. “Yes, of course -san.” He motioned for a maid to come and he instructed her to show to a new room.

“Thank you Atobe-san and goodnight to you both.” bowed lightly and followed after the other woman.

Jirou fell back into his chair holding his head in his hands. “What do I do…”

¯*_*¯*_*¯

It’s been two days. Two days since the dreadful party, two days till the dreadful wedding and two days since he realized he was making a huge mistake. Oshitari Yuushi stood in a room with his parents and his fiancée. “The wedding is going to be canceled.” Fury rushed over Renn’s face.

“Excuse me?” She growled out. His parents sat quietly waiting for an explanation.

“It will be called off. You will give birth to my child and after it is born you will hand over all parental rights to me.” Renn was about to yell when Oshitari held up his hand and glared at her. She sat back down cold glare still at him. “I will pay for all the hospital bills and anything else you will need during the full pregnancy. After which you will sign a contract which states you will no longer have contact with myself or the child.” Oshitari looked towards his parents who seemed to accept this and stood leaving the room.

“What am I suppose to do then? Just give it over to you and live on the street? I don’t think so.”

Oshitari rolled his eyes. “I will pay you a reasonable sum for your troubles don’t worry you wont be anywhere near living on the streets. However, if you breach the contract in anyway you will have to return the sum in full.” She growled and was about to argue. “This is not negotiable.” Oshitari turned and opened the door. “You will continue living here until my child is born, then your things will be moved to an apartment that you will enter after you leave the hospital.” He glanced back at her. “If you do anything to hurt my unborn child in anyway, you will regret it.” He walked out closing the door behind him.

¯*_*¯*_*¯

Jirou sighed for the hundredth time today and Atobe was getting annoyed. There was a sudden knock on his door which stopped him from strangling the other male.

“Atobe-sama, Oshitari-san is here.” Atobe raised an eyebrow and Jirou’s eyes focused on the door.

“Send him in.”

Yuushi walked in and closed the door behind him. “Excuse me for the sudden visit.” Atobe shook his head as Jirou glared lightly. “But I’m also not here to speak to you Atobe. Is around?”

Jirou held his breath as Atobe answered. “Yes, but I’m not sure if she would like to see you. You aren’t on her good side, Yuushi.” Atobe put down the paper he had been reading and sat back in his chair.

Yuushi laughed. “Yes, I know I wish to apologize to her, thank her and ask her something rather important.”

Jirou frowned. “What do you want to thank her for and ask her?”

Oshitari frowned back at his old friend, who he seems to have hurt again. “Thank her for reminding me what was important. The wedding has been called off.”

Atobe smirked and Jirou looked up confused. “And what you want to ask her?”

Oshitari smirked. “That I will only ask her.”

Atobe nodded. “She’s in her room in the east wing. If she doesn’t wish to see you. You are to leave is that understood.” Oshitari nodded and left the room. Before Jirou could say anything Atobe tried to reason with his friend. “Jirou calm down. Oshitari wouldn’t do anything to hurt you. He’s not in his right mind when he drinks and from what I saw you weren’t really being too kind to -san’s feelings that night either.”

Jirou crossed his arms and slumped in his chair. “Oshitari wouldn’t hurt me? Bullshit…” Atobe eyed his friend over the news paper he’d just picked up again and smirked.

¯*_*¯*_*¯

heard a knock at the door she angrily got up and pulled the door open. “Jirou, I don’t want to…” She looked up and her frown deepened. “What do you want, Oshitari-san?”

¯*_*¯*_*¯

Jirou came out of Atobe study just in time to see walking Oshitari to the door.

‘What’s going on?’ He snuck up and listened to them from around the corner.

“It would be a pleasure and I don’t know if I should be saying sorry for the cancel or congratulations.” She laughed lightly and gave Oshitari a small hug.

“Thank you again, -chan and I’ll call you alright?” She nodded as he left and she turned to walk back to her room. Jirou stood there, eyes hidden by his fridge.

frowned. “What do you need, Akutagawa?” Before she knew how to react she felt her feet leaving the floor. Jirou had lifted her onto his shoulder and was carrying her towards the room they shared the first night. After much protest from her he reached the room, locking the door, he sat her not so carefully on the bed.

“What’s the meaning of this?” She demanded as he sat on the bed behind her. She jumped slightly when he pulled her into his lap wrapping his arms around her waist.

“You’re not leaving…”

looked down blushing, now that she figured out she had more then friendship feelings for her little Jirou, this situation felt slightly uncomfortable. “Akutagawa, let me up.”

He shook his head, his soft hair rubbing against her cheek as he buried his head into her neck. “He can’t have you…” frowned again. “I wont let him. You’re mine, ! Yuushi can’t take you!”

bit her lip looking over at the top of the boys head. She didn’t know what to do anymore. The way he said it, claimed her, made her want to cry but she knew that he didn’t mean it the way she wanted him too but she couldn’t help it. She put her hands in his hair and leaned over whispering in his ear. “I wouldn’t go with him even if he asked.” She felt tears coming to her eyes. “Because the one I love is Jirou…”

Jirou felt warmth start in his chest and spread throughout his whole body. Until he felt small warm drops on the back arms. He moved so sat sideways in his lap. She covered her face but not before he saw the tears rolling down her cheeks. Jirou trembled lightly, was the strongest girl he’d ever met and he had never seen her cry. To know he made her, made it even worse.

, ne . Don’t cry.” He sat in front of her holding her shoulders. “Why are you crying?” He shook her lightly.

“I’m sorry Jirou. It was suppose to be an act. I was only suppose to pretend to be your girlfriend…but somewhere I messed everything up. I’m sorry, I screwed up.” She shook her head, trying to stop herself from looking more foolish. Jirou laughed and shot her head up glaring slightly at him.

“Is that all?” He smiled and she glared harder. Here she was pouring her heart out and he was laughing. “Remember when you saw me and Renn at the party…” ’s body shook she didn’t want to hear this, she tried to get up to leave but he stopped her. “Wait…she told me she wanted to be with me. You know what I thought about while she was confessing?” looked down and shook her head. “About how much I wish it was you saying it too me. How badly I wanted to feel you in my arms or at least have you within reach. How stupid I was to not see it till then.” looked up into Jirou’s smiling eyes. “I love you. You’re my .” He kissed her on her lips, grinning like an idiot, then pulled away pulling her into his embrace kissing the top of her head.

Jirou lay in the bed his arms wrapped around keeping her close as she slept. He leaned down and gently pushed some hair out of her face as he gently rubbed his hand down her cheek. He gave her a small peck on the lips then smiled as he felt her answering his kiss. Running his tongue along hers, gently biting her lip he pulled away smiling down at her. “I thought you were sleeping…”

She opened her eyes smirking. “Do you often kiss girls as they sleep helplessly?” He laughed as she turned in his arms pressing her back against his chest.

“Only you…” He rested his chin on her head tightening his arms around her and intertwining his fingers with hers. sighed as she was about to fall back to sleep. “Ne, …”

She hmm’ed indicating she was awake.

“What did Yuushi ask you?” She smiled to herself and yawned.

“We’ll talk about it later.” Jirou pouted and dug his head into the back of her neck.

“C’mon! I want to know!” He kissed down and up her spine as she giggled lightly.

“I’m sleepy Jirou…tomorrow…tomorrow!” He pouted harder and pulled her close again. ‘Let him worry about it for the night…he needs some nights where he can’t sleep too…’ She lift Jirou’s hand to her lips and kissed it. “Goodnight, love.” She whispered as she fell back into sleep.

Pesto[1] - In my mind this is the puppy that Jirou found wandering the streets one day while he was in Spain. The puppy tends to steal Jirou’s food when he falls asleep. It’s an extremely funny story in my mind…Yes, I know, I am insane.
