I challenge YOU to write a dream novel.
Rules and Details
- All submitted stories must be one-shots.
- You can use any PoT bishie you want.
- You can submit as many stories as you want.
- Since all submissions will be posted, please BETA-EDIT your stories. At the very least, make sure to check for typos and the very basic grammatical mistakes.
- Email your submissions (as Word document or text file attachments) to mitsuiselphie@gmail.com with the subject: DREAM NOVEL GENERATOR [insert IDEA# in here]. One submission per email.
- The first four lines of your email’s body should be composed of the story’s title, your pen name, the PoT character you used and the name(s) of the original character(s)
List of ideas to choose from:
IDEA1: Write a story about FEAR with a TEEN MOTHER as the original character and a RING as the key object. Set your story IN A MANSION. The first line of your story should be: “He could rule the world.”
IDEA2: Write a story around the proverb, “Beauty comes but once a year.” The words teenager, hallway, notebook and bus should appear in the story. Somewhere in the story, describe the TEXTURE OF DARKNESS
IDEA3: Write a story about BETRAYAL with a SINGLE WOMAN as the original character and a ROSE as the key object. Set your story in a CLUB. Somewhere in the story, include the cliche, “Ah, to be young and foolish.”
IDEA4: Write a story about a place you feel like going to. The words housewife, crayons, hallways and running shoes should appear in the story. Make use of the proverb, “Discretion is not gold”.
IDEA5: Write a story about DENIAL with a DYING PATIENT as one of the main characters and a STRAW as the key object. Set your story in a hospital. The first line of the story should be, “Today, I’ll begin…”
IDEA6: Write a story around the cliche, “to see the glass as half-empty”. The first line of the story should be, “I’d write a long letter to ____ and tell (him/her) about…”. Somewhere in the story, include a wedding vow you, yourself had written.
IDEA7: Write a story about REJECTION with a CAB DRIVER as one of the main characters and a MUG as the key object. Set your story in a MANSION. The first line of the story should be, “They returned too late.”
IDEA8: Write a story around the proverb, “Bad news breaks the camel’s back.” Somewhere in the story, write about the ODOR OF DISTRUST. The words nurse, rock, hotel room and computer should be found in the story.
IDEA9: Write a story about AWAKENING with a young man (the PoT bishie) as the main character and a SWEATER as the key object. Set your story on A TRAIN. The first line of your story should be, “The leaves made soft, rustling sounds.”
IDEA10: Write a story around the proverb, “Every man is better than nothing.” Somewhere in the story, include the metaphor, “a fistful of freedom”. The words artist, notebook, gas station and envelope should be found in the story. The first line of the story should be, “it was exhilarating, the first time I…”
